    Abstract: When embedding a signal into a selected subcarrier of a multicarrier downlink waveform of regular data/control signaling, a base station modulates the embedded signal with a different modulation scheme than the other data in the downlink waveform. The base station nulls adjacent subcarriers to minimize interference at a low-power wake-up receiver of an IOE device(s). The IOE device wakes up the low-power wake-up receiver at scheduled times to listen for the signal. For synchronization signals, the IOE device corrects a local clock based on a correlation value of the signal to a predetermined sequence. For wake-up signals, the IOE device correlates whatever is detected at the antenna to a predetermined sequence and compares the correlation value to a predetermined threshold. If the threshold is met, the IOE device registers a wake-up signal and wakes the primary transceiver of the device. If not, the receiver goes back to sleep.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for increasing decoding performance and/or reducing decoding complexity. An exemplary method generally includes receiving, via a wireless medium, a codeword encoded using a tailless convolutional code (TLCC) with a known start state, evaluating a set of decoding candidate paths through a trellis decoder that originate at the known start state of the TLCC, performing, for each of a plurality of the decoding candidate paths, a back trace from a respective end state to the known start state, and selecting one of the decoding candidate paths based, at least in part, on path metrics generated while performing the back trace. A TLCC is characterized by being encoded without trellis termination/a tail sequence resulting in an unknown end state.

    Abstract: A structure where there are self-contained subframes/slots with smaller TTIs within the subframes/slots is provided to address the issues in MMW scheduling. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may transmit downlink information to at least one UE using a plurality of downlink TTIs within a subframe/slot. The apparatus may receive uplink information from the at least one UE using at least one uplink region within the subframe/slot. In another aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive downlink information from a base station using at least one downlink TTI within a subframe/slot. The subframe/slot may include a plurality of downlink TTIs and at least one uplink region. The apparatus may transmit uplink information to the base station using the at least one uplink region within the subframe/slot.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a wireless device that communicates with another wireless device utilizing self-contained subframes. The wireless device communicates with a scheduling entity utilizing a plurality of self-contained subframes that include a first subframe and a second subframe. Each of the self-contained subframes includes an uplink (UL) portion and a downlink (DL) portion. The wireless device further receives DL control information from the scheduling entity in the DL portion of the first subframe, and transmits UL data that includes a plurality of reference signal bursts to the scheduling entity in the UL portion of the first subframe. The plurality of reference signal bursts are uniformly spaced in at least a portion of the UL portion of the first subframe.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing delivery of a transport block (TB) using code rate and over the air resources dependent segmentation into code blocks for New Radio (NR). In order to improve reliability, either repetition or reduction of the code rate can be performed. Reduction of the code rate displays a gain with respect to repetition but increases the decoding complexity and therefore the transmission latency. Therefore, for low rate, it is suggested to limit the maximum code block size, and correspondingly the maximum amount of information to encode, in order to avoid that the decoder processes long code blocks. Based on the classical 3GPP LTE segmentation method, a method is built which performs segmentation of transport blocks into code blocks based on the number of resources available for transmission (also called over the air, OVA resources, based on which the transport block size is computed) and the code rate selected for transmission.
