An operating mechanism of an open/close body, comprising a drive means for drivingly opening an open/close body, a position detection means for detecting the opened position of the open/close body, and a full open position storage means for storing the full open position of the open/close body, wherein when the open/close body is drivingly opened by the drive means, the drive means is stopped at a full open recognition position stored in the full open position storage means or at a position a specified amount before the full open recognition position, and when the present position of the open/close body after the drivingly opening by the drive means is completed is different from the full open recognition position (#1), the full open position storage means sets a new full open recognition position (#2).

If an obstruction, such as a child's finger, enters gap (26) between door (12) and frame (14), the infrared beam produced at sensor (36), and reflected by mirror (40) at the bottom of gap (26), will be broken. This will cause solenoid-activated plunger (32) to protrude into gap (26) restricting further closing of door (12). Sensor (36) and plunger (32) may be integrated into one leaf (24) of hinge (16) with its other leaf (22) acting as a striker plate for plunger (32).

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur automatischen Betätigung einer Fahrzeugtür (1), insbesondere einer Seitentür oder einer Heckklappe des Kraftfahrzeuges, mit einer Steuereinrichtung (12) und mit einem Antrieb (4;4'), der einen Motor (5) mit nachgeschaltetem Getriebe (6) und mindestens einem zwischen dem Getriebe (6) und der Fahrzeugtür (1) angeordneten Übertragungselement (8;20) umfasst.Um zu erreichen dass eine in ihrer geöffnete Stellung befindliche automatisch betätigbare Fahrzeugtür (1) auf einfache Weise manuell betätig werden kann, schlägt die Erfindung vor, an dem Antrieb (4) einen Belastungssensor (10) anzuordnen, der bei einer vorgegebenen Belastung der geöffneten Fahrzeugtür (1) ein Steuersignal erzeugt, welches dann der Steuereinrichtung (12) zur Aktivierung des Motors (5) oder zur Entkupplung einer zwischen Getriebe (6) und Übertragungselement (8;20) angeordneten Kupplung (18) zugeführt wird. Dabei erfolgt die Belastung der geöffneten Fahrzeugtür (1) z.B. durch einen entsprechenden manuellen Druck auf die Fahrzeugtür (1).

A power drive assembly moves a liftgate (12) of a motor vehicle (10) between its open and closed positions. The motor vehicle (10) defines an opening and the liftgate (12) closes the opening when the liftgate (12) is in its closed position. The power drive assembly (22) includes a base (24) that is fixedly secured to the motor vehicle (10) at a position in spaced relation to the opening. A drive mechanism (38) is fixedly secured to the guide. The drive mechanism (38) converts electrical energy into a linear force. The power drive assembly (22) includes a translation linkage (58) connected to the drive mechanism (38) for receiving the linear force and translating it into a nonlinear force to move the liftgate (12) between the open position and the closed position. A nut (52), secured to the translation linkage (58), moves the translation linkage (58) as it travels along a lead screw (50) that is rotated by a motor (40).

A power operating system for opening and closing a vehicle liftgate (12) has a pair of drive units (22, 22') supported on the vehicle roof and connected to the liftgate (12) for opening and closing the liftgate (12). Each drive unit (22, 22') includes a housing (38, 60) having a curved track (80) and a curved gear rack (48) that is bodily movable endwise in the housing (38, 60) and guided by the curved track (80), the rack (48) also serving as the drive link between the housing (38, 60) and the liftgate (12). The combined rack and drive link is extended and retracted by a pinion gear (40) that is journalled interiorly in the housing and engages the teeth of the curved gear rack (48). The pinion gear (40) is rotated by the output shaft (62) of the motor (24), which in turn is fastened to the side of the housing (38, 60). The motor (24) is a reversible electric motor and is adapted to be operably coupled to the vehicle ECU unit and preferably includes an internal transmission and electrically operated clutch controlled by the ECU unit.

The invention relates to the control of the movement of a sliding or swinging and sliding door (1) in its end closing area (x). The door leaf (82) can always move in the direction of closing by means of a free wheel (8) or similar but can only move in the direction of opening when a brake, coupling (9) or other fixing device for the part of the free wheel (8) that is located further away from the door leaf is released. A device for determining the position of the door is also provided. The invention is characterised in that any conventional anti-jamming measures that might be provided in the predetermined end closing area (x) are deactivated, in that as long as the door leaf (2) is located in the end closing area, the power to the door drive (4) and therefore, the closing force exerted on the door leaf, is reduced and in that the brake, coupling (9) or similar acting on part of the free wheel (8) that is located further away from the door leaf is released. The invention also relates to embodiments of this basic idea.

A power sliding door assembly (12) for a motor vehicle comprising a door structure (20) mounted on a motor vehicle for movement between closed and opened positions and a drive assembly (22) mounted on the door structure (20). The drive assembly (22) includes a rotatable gear (24) engageable with a gear track (26) provided on the vehicle. The rotatable gear (24) is drivable in a one direction to effect movement of the door towards the opened position and drivable in an opposite direction to effect movement of the door structure (20) towards the closed position. A drive shaft is coupled with the drive assembly (22) and is constructed and arranged to rotatably drive the rotatable gear (24). A reversible motor is mounted on said door structure (20) and is energizable to drive the drive shaft (36) in a first direction to enable the drive shaft to drive the rotatable gear (24) in the one direction, and energizable to drive the drive shaft (36) in a second direction opposite the first direction to enable the drive shaft (36) to drive the rotatable gear (24) in the opposite direction.

A time delay release mechanism (10) has a brake actuator (44) including an actuation member movable between engaged and released positions. A timer (110), when receiving electrical power (13) or when power thereto is interrupted for a duration less than a predtermined time period, disengages from the actuation member (44) allowing the actuation driver, when power thereto is initially interrupted, to move the actuation member (44) to the engaged position. The timer (110) engages the actuation member, when power to the timer is interrupted for a duration greater than the predetermined time period, to move the actuation member (44) to the released position thereby overriding the actuation driver to allow closure of the fire barrier (16). The timer (110) disengages from the actuation member (44) when power to the timer is restored and the actuation driver retains the actuation member in the released position when power to the actuation driver is restored, thereby automatically resetting the brake actuator (44) and timer (110).

A clutch (10) selectively transmits torque and rotary motion from a spindle (12) having an axis of rotation to a drum (16). First and second shoe members (30, 32) disposed radialy between the spindle (12) and the drum (16) move radially with respect to the axis of rotation between an engaged position and a disengaged position with respect to the drum (16). The first and second shoe members (30, 32) are responsive to acceleration for moving into the engaged position and responsive to rotational speed for moving into the disengaged position. A biasing spring (24) normally maintains the first and second shoe members (30, 32) in the disengaged position when the spindle (12) is at rest.

A door closing apparatus for closing a hinged door (21) comprises a housing (10), a shaft (11) extending substantially along a longitudinal axis of the housing and being rotatably mounted therein. A connecting arm (22) is mounted at one end of the shaft (11) and extends transversely thereto. The other end of the connecting arm (22) is adapted to cooperate with a guide track (24), which is formed on the lower end surface of the door, so that the shaft (22) is moved from a first to a second rotational position, when the door is moved from an open to a closed position. The apparatus further comprises a spring (13) or other driving means for driving the shaft (11) from its first to its second rotational position and releasable locking means (19) for locking the shaft in its first rotational position. The housing (10) of the apparatus may be positioned in a recess formed in the floor. The locking means may lock the connecting arm (22) in its first rotational position, in which the door (21) is open, and when desired, for example in case of fire, the locking means may be manually or automatically released so that the door is moved to its closed position by the spring (13).
