Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve element made of alumina ceramics as a base substance and has high corrosion resistance of its slideway, and also to provide a warm water faucet valve using the valve element and having excellent durability. SOLUTION: The alumina ceramics valve element is made of alumina ceramics as the base substance, the slideways of the base substance is covered with amorphous alumina and the top of it is covered with diamond-like carbon. The warm water faucet valve has at least a pair of valve elements which slide each other, and the alumina ceramics valve element of this constitution is used for at least one valve element. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool clad with a film of amorphous carbon excellent in wear resistance and deposition resistance, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This tool clad with the amorphous carbon is provided with a base material made of one kind selected from among high-speed steel, carbon tool steel and alloy tool steel and the film of the amorphous carbon used to clad at least a cutting edge on this base material. Hydrogen is contained not more than 5 atomic % within the film of the amorphous carbon. The maximum thickness of the film of the amorphous carbon at the cutting edge is made to be not less than 0.05 μm and not more than 0.5 μm. This film of the amorphous carbon is formed by physical vapor deposition in which graphite is made as a raw material. It is optimum to be applied to a rotationally cutting tool such as a drill, an end-mill and a reamer, a cutting tip capable of changing the cutting edge used for a milling tool and a turning tool, and a cut-off tool such as a cutter, a knife and a slitter or the like.
