Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional compact memory card interface applicable to a USB (universal serial bus) interface. SOLUTION: The interface mainly supports storage of digital information, and input and output (I/O) of digital data. The multifunctional compact memory card interface includes a memory card I/O functional module used for storing the digital information, a memory for use in storage of a digital information function, the memory card I/O functional module and a main controller to be connected between the memory cards. The multifunctional compact memory card is designed to have four pins and eight pins, simultaneously. The design of the four pins is used for a basic USB interface. The design of the eight pins is referred to as an SFMI interface, and composed of four bits bidirectional instructions/data/state-buses (D0 to D3), pulse simultaneous signals (CLK), a system interface and memory card insertion/installation detecting signal (CD) and power supply (VCC), and a ground (GND), which is amounted to eight sets of contacts. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a common use connector for memory cards having standards different from each other, and switching and decision method of common use terminal for the same. SOLUTION: A common-use connector for asynchronously inserting and setting a variety of memory cards of different standards is utilized. The common-use connector has a number of rows/sets of contact terminals of different standards arranged on a base board of single side surface. The contact terminals has a common contact terminal and simultaneously decides the interface signal of SM card or SD/MM card, and connects them to exact SD/MM card interface signals or SM card interface signals through a corresponding memory-card insertion detection switch and its switching selection circuit. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-type memory card drive. SOLUTION: The memory card drive built in a computer system or externally connected to the computer system or another digital product can read out/write information from/in memory cards of many kinds of standards. The memory card drive is constituted so as to insert each of existing SMS, MMC, MS and SD cards having similar size into one single slot and insert each of CF card types 1, 2 or PC card types 1, 2 and 3 into the other single slot, so that the drive can read out file data from an optional memory card. Since the drive is designed so as to support an IDE/ATAPI, USB or 1394 transmission unit, all memory cards being in circulation at present can be inserted into the memory card drive of single slot design or double slot design to read out/write data.
