    Abstract: A method of characterizing an imaging system includes generating a plurality of point spread function ("PSF") samples using the imaging system, each PSF sample representing a response of an imaging system to a point illumination source, each PSF sample comprising one or more pixel values. The method also includes co-registering the pixel values contained in each of the plurality of PSF samples to form an oversampled point spread function ("PSF") population; resampling the oversampled PSF population to uniform spacing to form a PSF image; slicing the PSF image in an evaluation direction to form a slice of the PSF image; and evaluating the slice to determine a value of a resolution metric of the imaging system that is specific to the evaluation direction.

    Abstract: A method of performing dark correction for signals generated by an image sensor is disclosed. Dark state signals are received from an image sensor and a dark correction ratio is determined for each pixel based on the dark state signals. Operational state signals are received from the image sensor and a pseudo dark signal is determined for each pixel based on the dark correction ratio and further based on the operational state signals. A corrected signal value based on the pseudo dark signal is determined. The method is capable of compensating for dark signals from the image sensor over a course of a series of measurements notwithstanding changes in temperature and exposure time.

    Abstract: A mobile device testing system with a sphere assembly is disclosed. The sphere assembly is a source integrating sphere and a test integrating sphere connected by an optical channel. A source illuminates the source integrating sphere with electromagnetic radiation of a known spectrum of wavelengths, usually light. The electromagnetic radiation travels to the test integration sphere through the optical channel. A first filter assembly and/or a second filter assembly rotate a plurality of filters into the optical channel to change the spectral distribution of wavelengths of the electromagnetic radiation in the test integrating sphere. A mobile device is mounted to the test integrating sphere and the spectral distribution of an image acquired by the mobile device is compared to a spectral measurement from a spectrometer.
