Abstract: Apparatus for stand-off Raman spectroscopy, comprising optical imaging device (e.g. a sight, e.g. of a rifle), Laser, Optical apparatus (optionally in the form of an adapter) with a wavelength band filter and optical dispersion means (e.g. grating) to disperse a Raman spectrum to an image sensor, and focusing means wherein the laser is a pulsed laser, and each of the detector elements of the array comprises a frequency band pass filter for detecting light pulses in preference to background radiation. Each detector element is provided with a first charge storage element to store charge, connected via a frequency band pass filter to a second charge storage element arranged to store charge preferentially resulting from high frequency light pulses. This may be performed in the short wave infrared spectrum. The image sensor can also have conventional detector elements, enabling viewing of a scene whilst simultaneously obtaining a Raman spectrum of a target in the scene. Advantageously this may be implemented in a rifle sight, optionally by means of an adapter arranged so that the rifle sight can be readily switched from conventional viewing mode to stand off Raman spectroscopy mode.

Abstract: An optical spectroscopy device comprises a measurement chamber (10) and a plurality of light emitter modules (12) and light detector modules (14) arranged at the measurement chamber (10). The modules (12, 14) have differing center wavelengths and can be used to measure transmission, Raman scattering, fluorescence, and phosphorescence of the fluid in the measurement chamber (10). Techniques for arranging and designing the modules (12, 14) as well as for operating them are described.

Abstract: An optical system, comprising a multi-spectral optical element, a switchable filter, a dual bandpass filter, and a sensor. The multi-spectral optical element receives light in at least a first spectral band and a second spectral band. The dual bandpass filter filters out wavelengths of light in a transition region of the switchable filter between the first spectral band and the second spectral band. The switchable filter filters light received from the dual bandpass filter in the first spectral band in a first mode where the switchable filter transmits light in the first spectral band and in a second mode where the switchable filter does not transmit light in the first spectral band. The sensor is disposed at an image plane, and the multi-spectral optical element is configured to produce a modulation transfer function value that is a above a predetermined threshold for each of the spectral bands.

Abstract: An optical sensor device includes an optical sensor; an optical filter; a phase mask configured to distribute a plurality of light beams associated with a subject in an encoded pattern; a movement component configured to move the phase mask; and one or more processors configured to: obtain, from the optical sensor, a first set of sensor data that indicates information related to first light that originates at the subject and passes through the phase mask when the phase mask is located at a first position; obtain, from the optical sensor, a second set of sensor data that indicates information related to second light that originates at the subject and passes through the phase mask when the phase mask is located at a second position; determine and provide, based on the first set of sensor data and the second set of sensor data, information associated with the subject.

Abstract: A field spectral radiometer includes a support structure and a remote sensing head disposed on the support structure. The remote sensing head includes a central axis, a first optical element disposed on a first side of the central axis and defining a first optical path for a first optical channel, and a second optical element disposed on a second side of the central axis and defining a second optical path for a second optical channel. An instrumentation assembly disposed on the support structure, including a first detection path associated with the first optical channel and a second detection path associated with the second optical channel, the first and second detection path include optical indexers for manipulating the first and second optical channels. The field spectral radiometer may include a calibration assembly disposed on the base. The calibration assembly may include a calibrating light source for calibrating the remote sensing head.

Eine Detektoranordnung zum wellenlängen- und winkelabhängigen Detektieren von Licht, ist in dem Gehäuse (10) lateral beabstandet von der wenigstens einen Apertur (21) angeordnet. Der Detektor umfasst ein erstes und ein zweites einer Detektorfläche gegenüberliegendes Reflektorelement (15) in dem Gehäuse. Das erste Reflektorelement ist (13) in einem Strahlengang der wenigstens einen Apertur (21) angeordnet und lenkt ein durch die wenigstens eine Apertur einfallendes Lichtbündel auf das zweite Reflektorelement lenkt, das ausgestaltet ist, ein einfallendes Lichtbündel auf die Detektorfläche zu lenken.

Abstract: Raman spectroscopy data is collected using a Spatial Heterodyne Spectrometer and processed in order to reduce signal noise. The processing of the Raman spectroscopy data includes segmenting generating an interferogram from the Raman spectroscopy data, segmenting the interferogram, determining an estimate of power spectrum density, and averaging the estimates of power spectrum density for each segment to provide an output spectrum. The output spectrum has greatly reduced variance of the individual power measurements, and allows the length of segments to be optimized to balance noise reduction operations and the loss of frequency resolution.
