    Abstract: PURPOSE: To monitor the concentration of a target compound continuously by providing a flow cell where a first channel for passing a fluid solution and a second channel for passing the beams of electromagnetic radiation cross at one point and detecting the intensity of electromagnetic radiation beams. CONSTITUTION: A device has means 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 that are directed along a path and generate the beams of circular polarization monochromatic energy electromagnetic radiation alternately left and right and a flow cell 9 where a first channel for passing a fluid solution and a second channel for passing electromagnetic radiation beams cross at one point, the electromagnetic radiation beams cross a first plate 10, the intensity of beams is detected so that the fluid liquid and a second plate 13 are crossed and is converted to electrical signals of DC and AC components by a photomultiplier 22 and a lock-in amplifier 25, and hence a digital computer 28 continuously measures the concentration of a target compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the objective wrapper comprising a single cellulosic sheet formed from multiple layers of a cellulosic sheet material, reducing the amount of sidestream smoke, economically usable as the wrapper for a smoking article and comprising a single sheet of paper. CONSTITUTION: This wrapper comprises a single cellulosic sheet formed from multiple layers of a cellulosic sheet material. The sheet preferably has about 40-100 g/m basis weight and is preferably perforated at a porosity of about 20-60 cm /min air permeation determined by the well-known Coresta method. Furthermore, the wrapper is formed from an outer layer having about 30 to about 40 wt.% filler loading employing a filler having about 30 to 60 g/m basis weight and about 10 to 80 m /g surface area by the BET method and an inner layer having about 2 to 15% filler loading employing a filler having about 10 to 40 g/m basis weight and about 7 to 10 m /g surface area is preferably obtained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by unifying a double stack into a single stack structure which can travel at speed twice of stack speed and re-stacking packs before being presented to a cartoning device. SOLUTION: A pack forming device or a packaging apparatus 10 performs a final production process on cartons, boxes or other uniform product containers. A pack appears as a double stack 12 and is carried between a lower belt 16 and an upper belt 15. In addition, an end 20 of the pack 12 is visible and inspected by a camera. A top pack 22 on a leading stack 22 is unified by preventing an upper pack 22 from advancing in a static unifying device 24 by a bar or a curved face crossing a path of the upper pack 22. This pack is inspected on a main surface by a front pack camera 30 and inspected a side by a side camera 32. Then a continuous flow of inspected products is maintained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fold line inspection apparatus by which a fold line can be inspected precisely by image-picking up light which is transmitted through a polymer packaging material and which is reflected from its fold line and its edge and analyzing its image. SOLUTION: A light source 40 sends incident light to a packaging material itself. The light is scattered from a polymer film packaging material in a fold line reaching a reflection boundary and in an edge. Scattered light 42 is images by a camera 46 via a lens 44 so as to be sent to an image processor. The image processor is formed so as to generate the image of the fold or the image of a clear surface. In an image analytical process, a fold pattern or a slit pattern can be captured by a camera scanning operation. The image is transferred to a computer via an I/O(input/output) circuit or the like. The computer stores a reference image which is recognized as an acceptable image. A package which has a defect on the surface is compared with reference to the data bank of the acceptable reference image, and it is treated as a defective product. A system can inspect an opened tape cut part and a proper opened tape arrangement.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a container having rounded edges with opposite faces flat and parallel to each other when a packaging blank is folded to assemble the container by providing a plurality of longitudinal parallel score lines on an internal face at positions corresponding to creases of the blank. SOLUTION: Six or seven parallel longitudinal score lines 54 are provided along positions of creases of a packaging blank 50 which are to be four vertical rims 56, 58, 60, 62 of a packaging box. All of the longitudinal score lines 54 are provided on an internal face of the blank 50, that is inside a completed container box. When the blank 50 is folded along one of longitudinal axes of the vertical rims 56, 58, 60, 62 in order to assemble the container box from the packaging blank 50, an edge curvature is distributed along a width with scores provided, so that a rounded edge may be automatically formed. Further, tendency for bending front and rear panels 14, 16 of the container may be substantially reduced, thereby forming the panels 14, 16 to be flat and parallel.
