    Abstract: In an embodiment, a dual-etalon cavity-ring-down frequency-comb spectrometer system is described. A broad band light source is split into two beams. One beam travels through a first etalon and a sample under test, while the other beam travels through a second etalon, and the two beams are recombined onto a single detector. If the free spectral ranges ("FSR") of the two etalons are not identical, the interference pattern at the detector will consist of a series of beat frequencies. By monitoring these beat frequencies, optical frequencies where light is absorbed may be determined.

    Abstract: A continuous-flow filter/concentrator for separating and/or concentrating particles in a fluid is disclosed. The filter/concentrator comprises three ports: an inlet port (110), an filter port (170) and a concentrate port (200); a plurality of insulating posts (140); and electrodes (100, 180, 190). The filter/concentrator separates particles into two streams by the ratio of their dielectrophoretic mobility to their electrokinetic, advective, or diffusive mobility, respectively. Also disclosed is a device for separating and/or concentrating particles by dielectrophoretic trapping of the particles.

    Abstract: Novel silico-titanates and the methods of making and using the said titanates are disclosed. Nb-doped silico-titanates are particularly useful for selectively removing cesium from radioactive wastes. An example of such Nb-doped silico-titanates is shown in the figure.
