Abstract: A method for reporting an image recognition error and an apparatus thereof are provided to enable an image apparatus to check a recognition error cause and to notify a user of the checked recognition error cause in case that there occurs an error while an image recognition function is being performed. A apparatus for reporting an image recognition error comprises an image analyzer(207), an image processor(205), a controller(201), a memory(211), a display unit(213), a key input unit(209) and a transmitting unit(203). The image analyzer(207) detects environmental elements which cause image recognition errors from inputted image data, calculates corresponding analysis indexes, and outputs an environmental element, matched with one analysis index deviated from a normal range of preset reference values, as an image recognition error cause, or outputs the image data to the image processor(205) if all the analysis indexes are included in the normal range. The image processor(205) searches for image data, included in a recognition target, from a prestored image data, compares the received image data with the search image data, calculates recognition reliability, and checks the recognition error cause if the calculated recognition reliability is lower than a reference value. The controller(201) controls the image analyzer(207) and the image processor(205) if receiving an image recognition request from a user, and notifies the user of the recognition error cause inputted from the image analyzer(207) and the image processor(205).
