PURPOSE: An image processing method and device are provided to eliminate noise of an image generated in general environment, low level light environment, and high sensitivity environment. CONSTITUTION: An RGB input image signal is converted into a YCbCr input image signal(610). The YCbCr input image signal is divided into a low frequency component which a high frequency component and noise are eliminated(620). The noise of the divided high frequency component is eliminated(630). The high frequency component which the divided low frequency component and the noise are eliminated is combined(640). An input image comprises a luminance component and a chrominance component. PURPOSE: An image processing method and an image processing device are provided to obtain an image with corrected lightness. CONSTITUTION: A first image extracting unit(123) uses an edge-preserving smoothing filter in a radiance map. The first image extracting unit extracts an image whose edge part is preserved or flat part is smoothed. A second image extracting unit(125) applies a correction curve to a first image. The second image extracting unit extracts a second image with a dynamic range that a user visually recognizes. A display image extracting unit(127) adjusts the hue value and chroma values of the second image. The display image extracting unit extracts an image with corrected image.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An image interpolating method using pattern characteristics of a color filter array and an apparatus thereof are provided to detect an edge direction from DAID(Differences of Absolute Inter-channel Differences) in consideration of properties of CFA, thereby directly interpolating three kinds of color pixel values from a CFA image along with the edge direction. CONSTITUTION: An edge direction detector(110) calculates difference values between absolute channels based on a central pixel according to pattern properties of R,G,B pixels arranged in a color filter array. An edge direction is detected using the calculated difference values. A weight calculator(120) calculates a directional weight according to the pattern properties of the R,G,B pixels. An interpolator(130) interpolates a unknown pixel using the color difference values and the calculated directional weight value in the detected edge direction.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for converting resolution of images are provided to solve a problem that because a point spread function in the same direction is used during a resolution conversion process, RF components cannot be properly reflected, degrading picture quality. An edge detecting unit(340) detects an edge region from an inputted low-resolution video frame and the direction of the edge region to generate edge map and edge direction information. A directional function generating unit(350) generates a directional point spread function based on the generated edge map and edge direction information. An initial interpolation unit(310) interpolates the inputted low-resolution video frame into a high-resolution video frame. A residual calculating unit generates a residual term by using the inputted low-resolution video frame, the high-resolution video frame and the directional point spread function. An updating unit performs updating on the interpolated high-resolution video frame according to results obtained by comparing the residual term and a certain threshold value.

A false contour removing method and a display device to which the same is applied are provided to prevent the deterioration of a signal component. A flatness area removing member(100) detects position information of a contour line including a false contour and an edge in the first input image by the difference of brightness values between the first and second input images. A bit number reducing member(110) outputs the second input image with a small number of bits compared to the first input image. A contour detecting member(120) includes the first and second calculation members(121,123) and a detecting member(125). The first calculation member calculates the difference of brightness values of the first and second input images. The second calculation member calculates an absolute value of the calculated value by the first calculation member. A false contour detecting member(200) measures the homogeneity and detects a false contour area.
