    Abstract: PURPOSE: Purification method of L-ornithine from culture broth of microorganism using weak acidic cation exchange resin is provided which is simple and produces pure L-ornithine. CONSTITUTION: Weak acidic cation exchange resins such as Dianion WK 10, WK 11 or Ambolite IR-50 are used to purify L-ornithine. 1-7% (V/V) of HCl solution is used to exchange cation of resin into hydrogen ion. Ammonia water is applied to exchange hydrogen ion into ammonium ion. 3-7% (V/V) of ammonia water is optimal for the exchange of cation. In order to neutralize the pH of resin, dilute HCl solution in the range of 6-10, 0.1-0.3% is added. Culture broth of Brevibacterium ketoglutamicum (KCTC 0141BP) centrifuged to remove cell mass is applied to column and L-ornithine is absorbed to resin. 2-10 % (V/V) of ammonia water is used to elute L-ornithine from resin.
