Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for automatically closing a trunk and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the controlling method of the system for automatically closing the trunk comprises the steps of: receiving a signal regarding the opening of the trunk from a trunk opening sensing unit; receiving, from a smart key module, information whether there is a smart key around a vehicle; receiving, from a parking assist system module, information whether there is an object in the rear of the trunk; and generating a control signal for automatically closing the trunk after a certain amount of time, based on the information received from the smart key module and the parking assist system module. Therefore, the present invention can prevent theft of goods and provide user convenience by automatically closing the trunk using existing smart key modules and parking assist system modules.
