Abstract: PURPOSE: A variable charge motion valve control device and a control method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by eliminating the necessity of using a drive motor, while allowing for ease of control. CONSTITUTION: A variable charge motion valve control device comprises a rotating shaft(3) penetrating ports(5,7) of an intake manifold(1); a rotating lever(21) mounted on an end of the rotating shaft in the outside of the intake manifold; a variable charge motion valve(9) mounted on the rotating shaft in one of the ports of the intake manifold; a vacuum actuator(23) connected to an end of the rotating shaft, which rotates the rotating lever centering from the rotating shaft; a vacuum chamber(27) arranged at a surge tank connected to the intake manifold, which accumulates the vacuum generated from the intake manifold; a control valve(33) mounted on a vacuum pipeline(31) for interconnecting the vacuum chamber and the vacuum actuator, which permits vacuum or atmospheric pressure to be supplied to the vacuum actuator in accordance with a control signal; and an electronic control unit(11) for outputting a control signal to the control valve in accordance with an engine RPM and a signal of opening degree of accelerator pedal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An intake catalyst having hexagonal monolith structure is provided to increase adsorbing rate of NOx by applying the monolith structure to the catalyst having a constant content of Pt and BaO to reduce a thickness difference of wash-coat. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst comprises the platinum(Pt) and the barium oxide(BaO) elements in an aluminum carrier to form the hexagonal monolith structure. The catalyst is produced by applying a wash-coat slurry on a monolith substrate made of ceramic material and having hexagonal cells. The catalyst may have an even wash-coating thickness of less than 100microns. The wash-coating thickness is determined by using laser beam to measure phase difference of light waves and/or by means of exhaust gas analyzer to measure a change of NOx amount.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An exhaust system of a vehicle is provided to prevent damage of a catalyst of an adsorption catalytic unit for a long driving at high temperature by protecting the adsorption catalytic unit from the exhaust gas of high temperature in high load of an engine. CONSTITUTION: A precatalyst(10), an adsorption catalytic unit(12), and a three-way catalytic unit(14) of an exhaust system for a vehicle are mounted on an exhaust pipe line(1) connected with an exhaust manifold of an engine. The adsorption catalytic unit is protected from the exhaust gas of high temperature by passing the exhaust gas discharged through the exhaust pipe line in an overload operation of the engine through the precatalyst, bypassing the adsorption catalytic unit, and supplying the exhaust gas to the three-way catalytic unit. The adsorption catalytic unit is installed at a bypass pipe line(3) branched off from the exhaust pipe line after the precatalyst and before the three-way catalytic unit.

Abstract: A novel and improved method and apparatus for generating a reduced peak amplitude high data rate channel comprised of a set of lower rate channels is described. The set of lower rate channels (90, 92) are phase rotated before being summed and transmitted.
