Abstract: PURPOSE:To extract and separate a lipid component in a highly refined state, in an improved extraction efficiency, by extracting the cells of mold belonging to Mortierella genus under specific condition, and carrying out the solid-liquid separation of the extract. CONSTITUTION:Cells of a mold belonging to Mortierella genus are disintegrated in an alcohol solvent in the presence of water by mechanical force. >=90% of the whole polar lipid contained in the cell and a part of neutral lipid are extracted and separated by this process. The extract is separated into the disintegrated cell component and the alcohol solvent component containing polar lipid by a solid-liquid separation step. The disintegrated cell component is again extracted with a hydrocarbon solvent to extract and separate the neutral lipid in high efficiency. The extraction product is separated into the microbial cells and the hydrocarbon solvent containing the neutral lipid by solid-liquid separation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the effective selection and separation of bacteria belonging to the genus Labyrinthula from a sea water or a marine environment by separating the bacterium belonging to the genus Labyrinthula by using a medium coated with a specific bacterium capable of activating the propagation of the bacterium belonging to the genus Labyrinthula in advance. SOLUTION: This method for separating a marine bacterium is to separate a bacterium belonging to the genus Labyrinthula by using a medium coated with a bacterium belonging to the genus Moraxella capable of activating the propagation of the bacterium belonging to the genus Labyrinthula, in advance. Concretely, e.g. a cultured liquid medium of Moraxella phenylpyruvica LB004 (FERM P-16954) is inoculated on for coating an agar plate medium prepared by dissolving 2 g nitrogen source such as glucose, an yeast extract, etc., and 15 g agar in one liter of sea water, then pasting a separation source of the bacterium belonging to the genus Labyrinthula such as a sea water, etc., on the center of the above agar plate medium for culturing in standing still. As the above separation source, a leaf piece of Zostera or a fall off leaf of a plant belonging to the Rhizophoraceae collected in the coast of a tropical or subtropical sea area are preferable.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the content ratio of a highly unsaturated fatty acid, e.g. docosapentaenoic acid(DPA) and eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) in a produced docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)-containing oil and fat in culturing a microorganism having the productivity of the DHA and DPA. SOLUTION: A microorganism having the productivity for DHA and DPA is cultured in the presence of p-toluic acid, tannic acid or cyanocobalamine to thereby control the content ratio of the DPA and EPA in a DHA-containing oil and fat produced by the microorganism. As a result, a cultured microbial cell or fat and oil different in content ratio of the DHA, DPA and EPA can be obtained to facilitate the separation and refining of the DHA from the oil and fat.

Then, lipids are extracted from the cell bodies, then separated and purified to give the objective compound. The lipid extraction from the cell bodies is preferably carried out by the multi-step process containing the first extraction step using an alcohol in the presence of water.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled medicinal drink containing gamma-linolenic acid or gamma-linolenic acid ester, exhibiting preventive effect to cardiac diseases, hypertension, etc., alleviating crapulence and premenstrual syndrome and useful as a nutrient source for the remedy of health disorder. CONSTITUTION:The objective drink can be produced by using gamma-linolenic acid or a gamma-linolenic acid ester as an active component. A prescribed amount of the active component is added to a saturated or super-saturated aqueous solution of cyclodextrin and the mixture is stirred for several tens min - several hours to obtain a clathrate compound as a precipitate, which is added to a medicinal drink. The cyclodextrin is preferably alpha-cyclodextrin or beta-cyclodextrin. The content of the active component in the liquid is abount 0.01-1wt%. gamma-Linolenic acid is found in breast milk and evening primrose seed oil, however, it is produced from an oil or fat obtained by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Mortiella genus in a medium containing glucose, etc., as a carbon source.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled amine having high gamma-linoleic acid content and useful as a medicinal drug, by culturing a specific microbial strain of Mortierella genus in a medium containing a carbohydrate at a high concentration as a carbon source, in high microbial cell density keeping high lipid content in the cell. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Mortierella isabellina, vinacea, ramaniana, ramaniana anglispora or nana is inoculated in a medium containing 20-400g of a carbohydrate (e.g. molasses) per 1 liter of the medium and a nitrogen source, etc., and cultured at 3-6pH for 2-10 days adding 0.1-20g/l of acetic acid at the initial stage of cultivation. The cell having a water-content of about 60% is collected from the culture product by centrifugal dehydrator, etc. 1pt.wt. of the cell (dry basis) is added with 2-7pts.wt. of a solvent produced by mixing 1pt.wt. of an alcohol and 0.2-0.7pt.wt. of water and the cell is disintegrated and extracted. The extracted component is separated by column chromatography to obtain the objective phosphatidyl ethanolamine of formula containing >=20% gamma-linoleic acid at the COOH of the R or R'.

CONSTITUTION:A mold belonging to Mortierella genus (e.g. Mortierella isabellina, Mortierella vinacea, Mortierella nana, etc.) is cultured in a medium containing glucose, saccharose, etc., as carbon source, urea, yeast extract, peptone, etc., as nitrogen source, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, etc., as inorganic salt and other minor components as nutrient sources. The produced microbial cells are added with an organic solvent, disintegrated and extracted. The resultant neutral liquid is added to a cosmetic such as facial cosmetic, hair cosmetic, make-up cosmetic, aromatic cosmetic, etc., in an amount of preferably about 0.001-30wt% based on the total cosmetics.
