Abstract: PURPOSE:To actually measure the concn. of tritium in real time by providing a gaseous mixture formed by taking in and mixing the heating steam from a steam generating part and a measuring gas and an air ventilation type ionization chamber which is resistant to a high temp. and accepts the high-temp. gaseous mixture to the above apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous mixture of a high temp. and high pressure contg. a waste liquid to be measured in the form of steam is obtd. in a gas mixing section 56. The gaseous mixture of the high temp. and high pressure is subjected to measurement of ionization current I in the ionization chamber 50 which is resistant to the high temp. and high pressure by an electrometer 60. The gas after the measurement in the ionization chamber 50 is cooled by a moisture removing device 66, by which the moisture is removed. The removed water is returned to a waste liquid tank 52. The gas after the moisture removal is released into the atmosphere from a discharge duct 58. The condensed water sticks to an insulator when the volume of the waste liquid is adjusted to the pressure below the vapor pressure of the water at the heating temp. The tritium in the waste liquid is thus measured in real time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve a higher measuring accuracy, by a method wherein a measuring water is turned into vapor to electrolyze and hydrogen obtained is introduced to measure radioactivity in the hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:A heated water vapor tank 22 turns a measuring water into vapor to remove water scale or the like existing in the measuring water and then, the water vapor is supplied to a heating tank 24. A solid electrolyte tank 26 has a solid electrolyte substance 26c and when the water vapor heated with the heating tank 24 is passed through the solid electrolyte tank 26, a reaction occurs at a cathode 26a from H2O+2e H2+O to obtain a hydrogen gas while an oxygen gas is generated. Then, a cooling tank 28 maintains hydrogen obtained from the heating tank 24 at a normal temperature while drying it and an ionization chamber 30 introduces the hydrogen to detect ionization charge due to tritium in the hydrogen. A measuring circuit section 34 measures radioactivity according to the said ionization charge. In this case, with separation of the most of moisture hydrogen gas, the concentration of tritium can be determined accurately in the measuring water.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To continuously measure a tritium concentration by providing plural freezing and thawing parts and automatically controlling opening and closing of valves to successively supply plural gathered cakes of ice of tritium water to a measuring part. CONSTITUTION:Air to be measured flows into a U-shaped tube 24 from a gathering port 28a of a supply tube 28 through a valve 101. In this case, valves 101 and 103 are opened and valves 102 and 104 are closed. At this time, valves 201 and 203 in a cooling machine 30 are opened and valves 202 and 204 are closed, and a freezing and thawing part 20 is operated. Consequently, the tube 24 is cooled and water in flowing air is frozen on the inside wall of the tube 24, and cakes of ice are laminated on the inside wall of the tube when air to be measured is allowed to flow for a prescribed time. After the prescribed time, valves 101 and 103 are closed and valves 102 and 104 are opened to stop air flow to the part 20, and air flow to the other freezing and thawing part 22 is automatically started. Then, the heating operation is performed in the part 20 by a heater coil 34 and tritium water is supplied to a scintillation counter 38 to measure radioactivity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it very easy to manufacture a thin window, by forming a window material in a thin membrane at a surface of a protective plate, and then processing the protective plate into a specific form of a protective frame through the etching process. CONSTITUTION:At first, a window material is pasted or vacuum evaporated on a protective plate 20 to form a thin membrane 22. Then, a photoresist layer 24 is spread and formed at the other side of the protective plate 20. After that, a masking plate 26 with cuttings responding to the radioactive beam permeable holes of the thin membrane protective frame is arranged opposite to the layer 24, and the light is radiated over the masking plate 26. When it is washed in such a condition, only exposed portions of the layer 24 remain as solid membranes 24a and the unexposed portions are removed, to expose the protective plate 20. Then, by processing the protective plate 20 in an acid solution, only the portions of the protective plate 20 covered by the solid membranes 24a remain, and the exposed portions are solved and removed. As a result, the remaining portions 20a of the protective plate 20 make the protective frame of the thin membrane 22. Thus, a thin window 30 incorporating the protective frame and the thin membranes can be easily manufactured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To exactly measure a radiation density extending from a low density to a high density by making a ratio of a sensitive part area of both measuring sensitive parts to be used, and a detection sensitivity different from each other, and also forming both the measuring sensitive parts by using the same material. CONSTITUTION:When a prescribed measuring gas 100 is supplied to each ionization chamber 12, 14 through a feed pipe 10, an ionization is caused at the same ionization degree by a radioactive substance contained in the measuring gas 100, in the ionization chambers 12, 14. At the same time, a radioactivity due to adhesion, diffusion, etc., of the radioactive substance is generated in the inside of each ionization chamber 12, 14. However, as for the ionization chambers 12, 14, its inner areas Ssp, Ssl are formed to an equal value, therefore, the total radioactivity contamination quantity in these ionization chambers 12, 14 becomes roughly equal. Accordingly, by such a radioactivity contamination substance, the ionization quantity generated in the inside of the ionization chambers 12, 14 becomes equal, and from a current collecting electrode 18, an ion which has been generated by its ionization is collected, and from a current collecting electrode 20, an electron which has been generated by its ionization is collected. Accordingly, by an addition processing, a radiation density can be measured exactly.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To certainly detect the taking of moisture contained in tritium detection air into purge gas, by providing a wetting means for supplying wet gas to a permeable membrane from a detection passage side and always holding said permeable membrane to a wet state. CONSTITUTION:A detection air passage 12 is provided along one side surface of a permeable membrane 10 and a purge gas passage 4 is provided along the other side surface of said permeable membrane 10. A definite amount of tritium detection air 100 is supplied into the detection air passage 12 at a constant speed from the left to the right in a direction while a definite amount of purge gas with humidity of 0% is supplied into the purge gas passage 14 at a constant speed from the right to the left in the drawing. A wetting apparatus 18 for supplying wet gas 300 to the permeable membrane 10 from the side of the detection air passage 12 is provided and always hold the permeable membrane to a wet state regardless of the presence of the supply of the detection air 100.

Therefore, α rays from radon and thoron as parent nuclides and αrays from the daughter nuclides are detected in an ionization box 30. Only radon and thoron are detected in the ionization box 32. The total count value and the details are individually, simply, and economically obtained in real time by a signal processing part 26.

CONSTITUTION: In a first detection unit 26, only radon is introduced into a gas introduction chamber 38 by a radon extraction filter 32. Since the radon daughter nuclide generated due to the decay in the gas introduction chamber 38 is a magnetized nuclide, it is captured by an electrode at one side. α ray from the radon and radon daughter nuclide is detected by an ionization box 36 via an αray incidence window 36A. On the other hand, all of the radon and its daughter nuclide and thoron and its daughter nuclide are introduced into a second detection unit 28 and the radon daughter nuclide and thoron daughter nuclide are captured by an electrode 150 at one side. In an ionization box 136, α rays from the radon and its daughter nuclide and thoron and its daughter nuclide are detected.

CONSTITUTION:A container 32 for an ionization chamber 30 is composed of an alpha-ray transmitting material and an ionization gas is encapsulated therein. The container 32 is made of an organic film, for example, and a frame 44 is provided in order to hold the container 32. A conductive coating material 46 is applied to the inner face of the container 32 and a voltage is applied between the coating material 46 and a current collecting electrode 34. Since the container 32 is entirely composed of an alpha-ray transmitting material, radon existing around the container can be measured efficiently.
