Abstract: A portable computer includes a display portion comprising a display and a base portion pivotally coupled to the display portion. The base portion may include a bottom case and a top case, formed from a dielectric material, coupled to the bottom case. The top case may include a top member defining a top surface of the base portion and a sidewall integrally formed with the top member and defining a side surface of the base portion. The portable computer may also include a sensing system including a first sensing system configured to determine a location of a touch input applied to the top surface of the base portion and a second sensing system configured to determine a force of the touch input.

In some embodiments, a keyboard assembly includes a substrate, a key cap, a movement mechanism moveably coupling the key cap to the substrate, and a guard structure coupled to the key cap operable to direct contaminants away from the movement mechanism. In other embodiments, a keyboard includes a base; a web that defines apertures; keys moveably coupled to the base within the apertures; and a gasket coupled to the keys, the gasket fixed between the web and the base, operable to block passage of contaminants into the apertures.

Ein kontinuierlicher und nachgiebiger Schaumklebstoff kann dazu verwendet werden, diese Glasdeckschicht mit der Hintergrundbeleuchtungsvorrichtung zu verkleben. Das nachgiebige Klebeband kann lokale Spannungskonzentrationen, die durch strukturelle Lasten, fehlangepasste Oberflächen und unterschiedliche Wärmeausdehnungsraten zwischen verschiedenen Strukturen und der Deckglasschicht verursacht werden, absorbieren und verteilen. Damit können Spannungskonzentrationen in der Deckglasschicht verringert werden, welche zu spannungsinduzierter Doppelbrechung in der LCD-Zelle führen können. In einer anderen Ausführungsform kann eine Reihe von starren Platten mit der Deckglasschicht verklebt und an die Hintergrundbeleuchtungsvorrichtung angebracht werden. Punktlasten, die von der Hintergrundbeleuchtungsvorrichtung aufgebracht werden, können aufgrund der Widerstandsfähigkeit der starren Platten über einen größeren Bereich verteilt werden.

The display may include a polarizer layer, a color filter layer, and a thin-film-transistor 5 layer. A layer of material such as a glass insert may be attached to an edge of the display. Openings may be formed in the layers of the display and the insert to accommodate the camera. A sleeve structure may be mounted within an opening. The camera may include lens structures formed from 10 a stack of lens elements. One or more layers of the display may be interposed within the lens structures. The glass insert may be mounted within a notch in the color filter layer and thin-film transistor layer or along a straight edge of the color filter layer and thin-film transistor 15 layer. The edge of the color filter layer may be recessed with respect to form a mounting shelf for the insert.
