    Abstract: In a process for producing n-butylalkyl ethers, (a) 1,3-butadiene or a butadiene-containing hydrocarbon mixture is reacted with an alcohol of formula ROH (I), in which the radical R is a C2-C20 alkyl or alkenyl group substituted or not with 1 to 2 C1-C10 alkoxy or hydroxy groups, a C6-C10 aryl or C7-C11 aralkyl group or a methyl group, at an increased temperature and pressure in the presence of a Brönsted acid or in the presence of a complex of an element of groups Ib, VIIb or VIIIb of the periodic table of elements with a phosphorus- or nitrogen-containing ligand, yielding a mixture of addition products of formulas (II) and (III); (b) the isomers are separated; (c) addition product III is isomerised into addition product II; (d) addition product II is hydrogenated in the presence of a homogeneous or heterogeneous transition metal element catalyst in the liquid phase or in the presence of a heterogeneous, transition metal element-containing catalyst in the gas phase, yielding n-butylalkyl ether of formula (IV).

    Abstract: The invention concerns a process for preparing amines having more than four carbon atoms by simultaneous hydroformylation and hydrogenating amination of corresponding olefins containing one carbon atom less in the presence of at least equivalent amounts of ammonia or a low-molecular amine or polyamine with at least one primary or secondary amino group by means of an unmodified rhodium catalyst dissolved homogeneously in the reaction medium at high pressure and high temperature. The rhodium catalyst is separated out of the liquid reaction mixture by separating the homogeneously dissolved unmodified rhodium catalyst from the reaction medium by means of a magnetizable inorganic pigment which is suitable for the complex or adsorptive bonding of rhodium and is uncoated or coated with a binder. This pigment is separated from the liquid reaction medium after it has been charged with the rhodium present in the reaction medium by the application of an external magnetic field.

    Abstract: A process is proposed for producing aldehydes and alcohols by hydroformylation of olefins with more than three carbon atoms. The process involves a hydroformylation stage, in which the olefin is hydroformylated at a pressure of 50-1000 bar and a temperature of 50-180 DEG C with the aid of a rhodium catalyst dissolved in an homogeneous reaction medium, and a catalyst recovery stage, in which the rhodium catalyst is extracted. The process involves the following steps: (a) hydroformylation carried out in the presence of a rhodium complex containing a ligand in the form of a phosphorous-free multidentate organic nitrogen compound capable of forming complexes with group VIII metals, said nitrogen compound containing in addition at least one tertiary nitrogen rest which can be protonated with a weak acid; (b) extraction of the product from the hydroformylation stage, where appropriate after separation or partial separation of the aldehydes and alcohols, using an aqueous solution of a distillable acid; (c) heat treatment of the aqueous acid extract in the presence of an organic solvent or solvent mixture which is inert under the hydroformylation conditions, the aqueous acid being distilled off, in order to de-protonate the complex and convert it to the organic phase; and (d) recycling of the organic phase containing the catalyst complex into the hydroformylation stage.
