Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for the continuous production of 2-butene-1-ol by isomerizing 3-butene-1-ol to remarkably reduce the ratio between a hydrogenation product and a low boiling substance. SOLUTION: A catalyst contains palladium, tellurium or a mixture of selenium and tellurium supported on the support of silicon dioxide and has BET surface area of 80-380m /g and the volume of pores 3nm-300μm in diameter of 0.6-0.95cm /g. The pores 10-100nm in diameter occupy 80-95% of the pore volume. The catalyst is obtained by a method in which the silicon dioxide support is impregnated with the solution of a palladium compound and a selenium compound, a tellurium compound or the mixture of hem and dried, and the compounds are reduced in the presence of hydrogen. The catalyst is used especially for the isomerization of 3-butene-1-ol.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing 3-pentenic acid esters by carbonylation of alkoxybutenes in the presence of a catalyst and solvent at elevated temperatures and pressures. The invented preparation process is characterized by reacting at least one alkoxybutene containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkoxy moiety and in allyl position to a double bond with carbon monoxide at a temperature ranging from 60 to 140 degC and under partial pressure of carbon monoxide within the range of 3 to 30 MPa in the presence of a catalyst based on palladium and an ingredient being selected from the group comprising chlorides, acids, nitrogen-containing ligands and phosphorus-containing ligands at molar ration of the ingredient to the catalyst of 0.1 to 10.

Abstract: A solid bed catalyst containing either palladium and selenium and/or tellurium on a silica carrier, has a BET surface area of 80-380 m /g, a pore volume of 0.6-0.95 cm /g and a pore diameter of 3 nm to 300 mu m. The proportion of the pore volume with a pore diameter of 10-100 nm is 80-95%. Also claimed are: (i) the preparation of the above catalyst; and (ii) the preparation of 2-buten-1-ol compounds of formula H2R1C-R2C=CR3-CR4R5-OR6 (I) by isomerising 3-buten-1-ol compounds of formula HR1C=CR2-CHR3-CR4R5-OR6 (II) in the presence of hydrogen and the catalyst. In the formulae: R1-R6 = H or aliphatic group (optionally substituted with OH, OR, halogen or carboxyl), or R2 may also be -CHO, or R2 and R5 can combine with the C atoms between them to form an alicyclic ring, or R6 can also be a cycloaliphatic, arylaliphatic or aromatic group or a group of formula C(=O)-R7; R = aliphatic group; and R7 = aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, arylaliphatic or aromatic group.

The quantity of secondary polyisobutene amine must be greater than the quantity of any primary or tertiary polyisobutene amine which may be present.
