Abstract: Procedimiento para la reduccion de la permeabilidad al vapor de agua de masas polimeras Q que contienen cera de abejas o esteres de cera montana o sus mezclas, en cuyo procedimiento se prepara, en una primera etapa, una composicion (Z), que contiene: Z1) 40 a 98,5% en peso de por lo menos un polimero compatible con el polimero basico de Q, Z2) 0.5 a 20% en peso de almidon, celulosa o sus mezclas como aceleradores de fases, Z3) 1 a 20% en peso de cera de abejas o esteres de cera montana o sus mezclas y Z4) 0 a 20% en peso de por lo menos un aditivo, refiriendose los porcentajes en peso al peso total de Z, y, en una segunda etapa se reunen la composicion Z con el polimero Q1 en que se basa Q.

Abstract: A back sheet for hygiene articles contains a sheet of biodegradable polymer with high water vapor permeability and high flexibility, consisting of partly aromatic polyester based on an acid component comprising 50-70 mol% (cyclo)aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and 30-50 mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid, plus (cyclo)alkanediol(s) and optional components. A back sheet for hygiene articles contains a sheet of biodegradable polymer (BP) with a water vapor permeability of 100-5000 g/m /24 hours (ASTM F 1249; at 38 deg C and 90% RH) and an elastic modulus of 20-300 MPa (ISO 527; cross-head speed 1 mm/min). The polymer (BP) is a partly aromatic polyester based on (A) an acid component comprising (a1) 50-70 mol% aliphatic and cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid(s) (or ester-forming derivatives), (a2) 30-50 mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid(s) (or ester-forming derivatives) and (a3) 0-5 mol% of a compound with sulfonate groups, (B) 2-12C alkanediol(s) and 5-10C cycloalkanediol(s) and optionally the following: (C) a component selected from (c1) ether function-containing diols of formula HO-((CH2)n-O)m-H (I), (C2) hydroxy-acids of formula (IIa) or (IIb), (c3) 2-12C aminoalkanols and 5-10C aminocyclo-alkanols, (c4) diamino-(1-8C alkanes), (c5) 2,2'-bis-oxazolines of formula (III) and (c6) amino-acids selected from natural amino-acids, polyamides with a mol. wt. of not more than 18000 (by polymerisation of 4-6C diacids with 4-10C diamines), compounds of formula (IVa) or (IVb) and polyoxazolines with repeating units of formula (V) and (D) a component selected from (d1) compounds with at least 3 ester-forming groups, (d2) isocyanates and (d3) divinyl ethers. Abstract: The use of biologically degradable polyesters for the manufacture of bristles is new. The polyesters are partially aromatic polyesters containing: (A) an acid component from: (a1) 30-95 mol% of at least one aliphatic or at least one cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid, an ester forming derivative of this, or their mixtures, (a2) 5-70 mol% of at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid, an ester forming derivative of this, or their mixtures, and (a3) 0-5 mol% of sulfonate group containing compounds; (B) a diol component selected from at least one 2-12C alkanediol and at least one 5-10C cycloalkanediol or their mixtures, and optionally one or more components selected from: (C) a component selected from (c1) at least one ether function containing dihydroxy compound of formula (I). HO-((CH2)n-O)m-H (I) HO-(-C(O)-G-O-)pH (IIa) n = 2,3, or 4, and m = 2-250, (c2) at least one hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula (IIa) or (IIb): p = 1-1500, r = 1-4, and G = a residue selected from phenylene, -(H2)q-, where q = 1-5, -C(R)H-, and -C(R)HCH2, where R = Me or Et, (c3) at least one 2-12C aminoalkanol or at least one 5-10C aminocycloalkanol, or their mixtures, (c4) at least one 1-8C aminoalkane, (c5) at least one 2,2-bisoxazoline of formula (III): where R = a single compound, (CH2)z alkylene, where z = 2,3, or 4, or phenylene, (c6) at least one aminocarboxylic acid selected from a group consisting of natural amino acids, polyamides of maximum molecular weight 18000 g/mole, obtainable by polycondensation of a 4-6C dicarboxylic acid and a 4-10C diamine, compounds of formula (IVa): and IVb): where s = 1-1500, t = 1-4, and T = a residue selected from phenylene, -(CH2)n-, where n = 1-12, -C(R )H-, and -C(R )HCH2, where R = Me, Et, or polyoxazoline with the recurring unit (V): where R = H, 1-6C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, optionally substituted with 1-4X alkyl up to 3-fold substituted with phenyl or = tetrahydrofuryl, or mixtures of (c1) to (c6); (D) a component selected from: (d1) at least one compound with at least 3 ester forming groups, (d2) at least one isocyanate, (d3) at least one divinylether, or mixtures of (d1) to (d3). An Independent claim is included for bristles obtainable by biological degradation of polyesters.

The invention also relates to methods for producing biodegradable polyester mixtures, the use of biodegradable polyester mixtures for producing blends, moulded parts, films or fibres, in addition to blends, moulded parts, films or fibres comprising biodegradable polyester mixtures.
