Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an expandable styrene polymer containing a foaming agent and a specific foaming auxiliary and exhibiting an improved expandable characteristic without affecting other treating characteristics and product characteristics. SOLUTION: This expandable styrene polymer contains a foaming agent and 0.5-20wt.% of a foaming auxiliary. Therein, the foaming auxiliary comprises a 2-20C aliphatic olefin oligomer which is liquid at room temperature and has a number - average polymerization degree of 2-200, preferably 2-100, and plural terminal double bonds, such as propene oligomer or isobutene oligomer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing expanded or expandable polyolefin particles, by impregnating polyolefin granulate with a volatile propellant in suspension under pressure. A mixture of a water-insoluble inorganic compound and a surfactant is used as a suspending auxiliary agent and the impregnation takes place in the presence of a surface-active polymer which carries carboxyl or carboxylate groups.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of polymers from N-vinyl compounds, characterized in that vinyl compounds are polymerized in the presence of radicals of general formula (I), wherein Q stands for NR or S and T stands for CR R or S and R , R , R and R can be identical to or different from each other and independently stand for hydrogen, C1- to C20-alkyl or C6- to C18-aryl.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a conversion product (A), which comprises the following steps: (i) reacting, under radical conditions, a reaction mixture containing at least one radically convertible monomer (a) in the presence of at least one radical initiator and one compound of formula (I), wherein R1 to R4, independent of one another, represent hydrogen, a non-substituted or substituted alkyl radical, cycloalkyl radical, aralkyl radical, a non-substituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon radical with the provision that at least two of the radicals R1 to R4 represent a non-substituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon radical, or the radicals R and R or R and R , in pairs, represent a substituted or non-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon radical with 6 to 18 C atoms and a functional group which, in conjunction with the C-C double bond in general formula (I), comprises a multiple bond between a C atom and a heteroatom, whereby during the reaction, the reaction mixture consists of 10 or less wt. % water.

The present invention relates to an expandable styrene polymer which cont ains athermane particles and is coated with a hydrophobizing means, wherein the hydrophobizing means contains 10 to 90% by weight of at least one triest er of at least one fatty acid with a multihydric alcohol as component A; 5 t o 70% by weight of at least one monoester of a fatty acid with a multihydric alcohol as component B; 5 to 80% by weight of at least one metal salt of a fatty acid as component C; 5 to 50% by weight of at least one silicate as co mponent D; and 0 to 30% by weight of at least one antistatic agent as compon ent E; and the sum of components A to E of the hydrophobizing means amounts to 100% by weight. The invention also relates to a method for the production of expandable styrene polymer by coating an expandable styrene polymer whic h contains athermane particles with this hydrophobizing means, a foam produc ed from this expandable styrene polymer, and the use of a hydrophobizing mea ns for coating expandable styrene polymers containing athermane particles.
Abstract:
The invention relates to light wood-based materials containing 30 - 92.5 % by wt. of wood particles, in relation to the wood-based material. Said woo d particles have an average density of between 0.4 - 0.85 g/cm3, 2.5 - 20 % by wt. of polystyrene and/or styrene copolymer as filling material, in relat ion to the wood-based material. Said filling material has a bulk density of between 10 -100 kg/m3, and 5 - 50 % by wt. of binding agents, in relation to wood-based material. The average density of the light wood-based material i s less than or equal to 600 kg/m3.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the production of expanded or expandable polyolefin beads by impregnating polyolefin granules with a volatile blowing agent in suspension under pressure. As suspension aid, use is made of a mixture of a water-insoluble inorganic compound and a surfactant, and the impregnation is carried out in the presence of a surface-active polymer carrying carboxyl or carboxylate groups.
