Abstract: Preparation of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprises radically initiated polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of dispersing additives, optionally a water soluble organic solvent in an aqueous medium, where at least a partial quantity of ethylenic unsaturated monomer and an aqueous soluble organic solvent exists with an average droplet diameter of = 1000 nm (mini-emulsion). Preparation of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprises radically initiated polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of dispersing additives, optionally a water soluble organic solvent in an aqueous medium, where at least a partial quantity of ethylenically unsaturated monomer and an aqueous soluble organic solvent exists with an average droplet diameter of = 1000 nm (mini-emulsion), where the mini-emulsion is prepared by a raw emulsion with an average diameter of >= 2 mu m, containing at least partial quantity of water, dispersing additives, ethylenically unsaturated monomer, optionally a water soluble organic solvent, and passed through a micro-porous membrane with an average pore diameter of = 1000 nm.

Abstract: Una dispersión de polímero finamente dividida que contiene almidón, la cual es obtenible mediante polimerización en emulsión por radicales libres de monómeros etilénicamente insaturados en presencia de al menos una iniciadores redox y almidón, en la cual se utilizan (a) de 15 a 35% en peso de al menos un estireno opcionalmente sustituido, (b) de 65 a 80% en peso de al menos un acrilato de alquilo de C1-C12 y/o metacrilato de alquilo de C1-C12, (c) de 0 a 10% en peso de al menos otro monómero etilénicamente insaturado copolimerizable, como los monómeros etilénicamente insaturados, y la suma de (a) + (b) + (c) es igual a 100% con base en el contenido de monómero activo y se usan (d) de 15 a 40% en peso de al menos un almidón degradado que tiene una masa molar Mw de 1000 a 65 000 g/mol, con base en el peso total del contenido de sólidos de los componentes (a) + (b) + (c) + (d), como el almidón, y la polimerización se lleva a cabo en presencia de al menos 0.01% en peso, con base en los monómeros utilizados, de al menos un agente de transferencia de cadena que contiene terpeno, y en la cual la dispersión de polímero comprende opcionalmente un compuesto de aluminio.

Abstract: The invention provides for the paper industry an antifoam which is an oil-in-water emulsion at least as effective as the products used to date. The oil phase comprises: (a): one or more compounds selected from alcohols having at least 12C, fatty acid esters of alcohols having at least 22C and carboxylic acids having from 1 to 36C, and distillation residues optionally alkoxylated, the distillation residues being obtained in the preparation of alcohols having at least 8C by oxo synthesis or by the Ziegler process, and having a boiling point >= 200°C at 20 mbar; and/or (b): one or more fatty acid esters of carboxylic acids having from 12 to 22C with monohydric to trihydric alcohols having from 1 to 18C; and (d): from 1 to 80% by weight of polyglyceryl esters, wherein the oil phase makes up more than 50 but not more than 80% wt. of the oil-in-water emulsion.

Abstract: Antifoams for the paper industry, based on oil-in-water emulsions in which the oil phase comprises (a) at least one alcohol having at least 12 carbon atoms, fatty acid esters of alcohols having at least 22 carbon atoms and C1- to C36-carboxylic acids, distillation residues which are obtainable in the preparation of alcohols having a carbon number of at least 8 by oxo synthesis or by the Ziegler process and which, if appropriate, are alkoxylated, mixtures of said compounds and/or (b) at least one fatty acid ester of C12- to C22-carboxylic acids with monohydric to trihydric C1- to C18-alcohols and, if appropriate, (c) at least one hydrocarbon having a boiling point above 200° C. or a fatty acid having 12 to 22 carbon atoms and (d) from 1 to 80% by weight of polyglyceryl esters which are obtainable by at least 20% esterification of polyglycerol mixtures comprising from 0 to 10% by weight of monoglycerol, from 15 to 40% by weight of diglycerol, from 30 to 55% by weight of triglycerol, from 10 to 25% by weight of tetraglycerol, from 0 to 15% by weight of pentaglycerol, from 0 to 10% by weight of hexaglycerol and from 0 to 5% by weight of polyglycerols having a higher degree of condensation with at least one fatty acid having 12 to 36 carbon atoms, more than 50 to 80% by weight of the oil phase being involved in the production of the oil-in-water emulsions.
