    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing propylene oxide, comprising (i) providing a stream comprising propene, propane, hydrogen peroxide or a source of hydrogen peroxide, water, and an organic solvent; (ii) passing the liquid feed stream provided in (i) into an epoxidation zone comprising an epoxidation catalyst comprising a titanium zeolite, and subjecting the liquid feed stream to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone, obtaining a reaction mixture comprising propene, propane, propylene oxide, water, and the organic solvent; (iii) removing an effluent stream from the epoxidation zone, the effluent stream comprising propene, propane, propylene oxide, water, and the organic solvent; (iv) separating propene and propane from the effluent stream by distillation, comprising subjecting the effluent stream to distillation conditions in a distillation unit, obtaining a gaseous stream (S1) which is enriched in propene and propane compared to the effluent stream subjected to distillation conditions, and a liquid bottoms stream (S2) which is enriched in propylene oxide, water and organic solvent compared to the effluent stream subjected to distillation conditions; (v) separating propane from the stream (S1) in a separation zone, comprising subjecting the stream (S1) to washing conditions in a scrubber, wherein a solvent mixture comprising organic solvent and water is added as entraining agent, obtaining a bottoms stream (S3), which comprises organic solvent, water and at least 70 weight-% of the propene comprised in (S1); and a gaseous top stream (S4), which comprises at least 5 weight-% of the propane comprised in stream (S1).

    Abstract: Un proceso para purificar oxido de propileno, que comprende (i) proporcionar una corriente S0 que comprende oxido de propileno, acetonitrilo, agua y un compuesto organico que comprende un grupo carbonilo -C(=O)-, en donde dicho compuesto organico que comprende un grupo carbonilo - C(=O)- comprende uno o mas de acetona y propionaldehido; (ii) separar el oxido de propileno de la corriente S0 por destilacion, que comprende (ii.1) someter la corriente S0 a condiciones de destilacion en una primera unidad de destilacion, obteniendo una corriente superior gaseosa S1c que esta enriquecida en oxido de propileno en comparacion con la corriente S0, una corriente de fondo liquida S1a que esta enriquecida en acetonitrilo y agua en comparacion con la corriente S0, y una corriente lateral S1b que comprende oxido de propileno que esta enriquecido en el compuesto carbonilo en comparacion con la corriente S0; (ii.2) hacer reaccionar el compuesto carbonilo comprendido en la corriente lateral S1b con un compuesto organico que comprende un grupo amino -NH2 obteniendo un producto de reaccion del compuesto organico que comprende un grupo carbonilo y el compuesto organico que comprende un grupo amino; (ii.3) separar el oxido de propileno del producto de reaccion del compuesto organico que comprende un grupo carbonilo y el compuesto organico que comprende un grupo amino en una segunda unidad de destilacion, obteniendo una corriente superior gaseosa S3a que esta enriquecida en oxido de propileno y una corriente de fondo liquida S3b que esta enriquecida en el producto de reaccion del compuesto organico que comprende un grupo carbonilo y el compuesto organico que comprende un grupo amino; (ii.4) introducir la corriente superior S3a que esta enriquecida en oxido de propileno en la primera unidad de destilacion.

    Abstract: A continuous process for the preparation of propylene oxide, comprising a start-up stage and normal run stage, wherein the normal run stage comprises (i) continuously providing a liquid feed stream comprising propene, hydrogen peroxide, acetonitrile, a formate salt, water and optionally propane, wherein in the liquid feed stream, the molar amount of the formate salt relative to the molar amount of hydrogen peroxide at a given point of time during the normal run stage is aN(Fo/H2O2); (ii) continuously passing the liquid feed stream provided in (i) into an epoxidation zone comprising a catalyst comprising a titanium zeolite having framework type MWW, and subjecting the liquid feed stream to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone, obtaining a reaction mixture comprising propylene oxide, acetonitrile, water, the formate salt, optionally propene, and optionally propane; (iii) continuously removing an effluent stream from the epoxidation zone, the effluent stream comprising propylene oxide, acetonitrile, water, at least a portion of the formate salt, optionally propene, and optionally propane; wherein the normal run stage is characterized in an average rate of change of aN(Fo/H2O2) of less than 0 h−1.
