    Abstract: There are prepared compounds of the formula [Rn1(R2O)3-n-Si-Alk-S-]xZ(I) where Z is 3BOND PO, 3BOND PS, 3BOND P, =PR, -P(R)2, -P(OR)2, =P(OR), -PO(OR)2, -PS(OR)2, =PO(OR) or =PS(OR) where R is an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, phenyl or o-, m- or p-nitrophenyl; Alk is an alkylene group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms; R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, benzyl or phenyl; R2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 8 carbon atoms, phenyl, benzyl or 2-methoxyethyl, each R1 and R2 can have the same or different meanings; n is 0, 1 or 2; and, x is 1, 2 or 3, being the residual valence of Z. The compounds are useful as reinforcing agents in vulcanizable rubber mixtures which contain a silicate filler and optionally carbon black.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing sulphur-containing organosilicon compounds having the formula (I) Z - Alk - Sx - Alk - Z wherein Z represents the groupings , , or whererin R1 represents an alkyl group with a straight or branched chain of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl radical containing 5 to ? carbon atoms, the benzyl radical or the phenyl radical, which may be singly or multiply substituted by methyl, ethyl or chlorine, and R2 represents an alkoxy group with a straight or branched carbon chain containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, the methoxyethoxy group, a cycloalkoxy group containing 5 to 8 carbon atoms, the phenoxy group or the benzyl-oxy group and in each case R1 and R2 can have the same or a different meaning, Alk represents a divalent saturated hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms with a straight or branched carbon chain, which, may be interrupted once or twice by -O-, -S- or -NH-, and x represents a number from 2,0 to 6.0 which comprises in a first stage reacting compounds having the formula(II) Y - Alk - Hal, whererin Y represents the groupings , or wherein R1 has the above meanings, Hal represents a fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, with at least one compound having the formula R3OH, III wherein R3 represents an alkyl group with a straight or branched carbon chain containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, the methoxy-ethyl group, a cycloalkyl group containing 5 to 8 carbon atoms, the phenyl group or the benzyl group, and when the silatrane is required reacting a trisalkoxy silane with triethanol amine to the corresponding silatrane and in a sulphiding stage reacting with a hydrogen sulphide having the formula (IV) MeSH, wherein Me represents ammonium, an alkali metal atom, or an equivalent of an alkaline earth metal atom, and with sulphur and separating the product obtained from the halide formed.
