A liquid treating agent containing ozone can be used for decolorizing a fabric. The decolorization properties can be potentiated by additives. Ozone can be blended into an aqueous medium that can effectively decolorize fabric.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous coating composition, a film or barrier layer. The aqueous coating, in a pseudoplastic thixotropic mixture having a yield point, can be applied to surfaces in heated food preparation units. The composition can be easily applied to a variety of surfaces, and can advantageously cling to vertical or substantially inclined surfaces in order to form a barrier film or coating. The coating can result in a smooth uniform coating. The film, upon heating, forms a barrier layer which can facilitate the removal of food soils which can form during food preparation activities after formation of the barrier film layer. The compositions of the invention can be used in methods for coating the interior heated surface of food preparation units by applying the aqueous material through a spray or other aerosol apparatus to form a clinging aqueous coating. Upon heating, the water from the coating can evaporate leaving an organic/inorganic film which can support baked-on food soil and promote easy removal. The compositions and methods of the invention entail the use of food safe materials approved for contact with comestible substances.
Abstract:
Improved cleaners for hard surfaces, cooking utensils, laundry and other substrates that can accumulate fatty soils can be cleaned using an aqueous cleaner made from a cast solid cleaning system. The cast solid system contains a carefully balanced formulation of cleaning ingredients that provide surprising animal or vegetable fat removing properties. The cleaning system can be manufactured in the form of a large bulk cast block. Such blocks are dispensed by spraying a dispensing spray of water onto the surface of the block creating an aqueous concentrate that can be directed to a cleaning site. The solid composition contains a unique blend of a specific amine oxide combined with anionic sulfonates in a solvent containing mass. These unique components cooperate to prove a substantial level of animal or vegetable fat removal in preferred cleaning protocols.
Abstract:
The invention is a solid chemical concentrate system of at least two cooperative shapes. The first shape is an inwardly curved bar having an inner opening. The second shape is an insert which is capable of interlocking with the bar by insertion into the bar inner opening. The solid chemical concentrate provides chemical systems having active constituents which may be the same, different but compatible or functionally and chemically incompatible combined within one matrix to provide at least one substantially continuous surface. The system may also comprise an aqueous soluble or dispersible polymeric film cover.
Abstract:
A dispenser (10) and method for washing dishes and utensils in a dishwashing machine are disclosed. The dispenser (10) is comprised of a container (11) and lid (12), the dispenser containing a solid detergent composition (13). A slot (23) in a side wall (17) and baffle (26) allow for controlled drainage of the detergent solution. The lid (12) has a plurality of openings (18) through which water from the dishwashing machine enters, so as to dissolve the solid detergent (13). The dispenser (10) is positioned within the washing chamber (20) of a dishwashing machine (19).
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a solid, cast detergent composition which includes a hydratable chemical capable of combining with water under differing conditions to form at least two distinct hydrated forms which have different densities, such as sodium carbonate, so as to prevent swelling of the cast composition. The process controls the concentration of hydratable chemical, based upon hydratable chemical and water, and the temperature of the mixture throughout the process to minimize formation of the more dense hydrated form of the hydratable chemical.
Abstract:
A solid heavy duty laundry detergent composition having a zero phosphorus content is disclosed that has the capability of effectively conditioning service water. The detergent composition comprises a source of alkalinity, a water-conditioning vinyl polymer with pendant carboxyl groups, a water-conditioning copolymer of acrylic acid and itaconic acid, and at least one nonionic surfactant.
Abstract:
The invention relates to treatment of aqueous streams and aqueous systems with ozone. The aqueous stream comprises a closed loop system providing transport from a production locus to a processing locus for a variety of products. The aqueous stream can contain a challenge soil load and a microbial load. A treatment zone is defined through which the aqueous stream passes. The treatment zone is contacted with a sufficient concentration of ozone to substantially reduce the microbial population and to substantially reduce the number of microorganisms that can generate slime on the interior of the system. An amount of ozone is added to the aqueous stream in the treatment zone such that once the microbial populations are reduced to a safe level, the ozone concentration is also reduced to a level substantially safe for contact with operating personnel and product. Typically, such concentration is less than one part by weight of ozone per million parts by weight of aqueous system, preferably less than 0.5 parts by weight of ozone per million parts of aqueous system. The use of a treatment zone in an aqueous system segregates the ozone from release into areas frequented by operating personnel, sensitive materials or product.
Abstract:
A dispenser (100) for dispensing a chemical product that is dissolved by diluent. The dispenser includes a package (170) having a diaphragm, or fingered collar (180) attached to its opening. The diaphragm (180) has a plurality of flexible members or flexible fingers (185). The dispenser may utilize an injection manifold (109) that is sized and configured to be positioned on a washing machine top proximate the gap between the washing machine's top and lid. Still further, the invention includes a low level chemical product indicator. The indicator includes a focused light source (98a). The focused light source is a high intensity light emitting diode having a viewing angle of less than 6 DEG and an intensity of above 10,000 mcd. The dispenser also includes an apparatus and method in which a dispensing time of a dispenser is dynamically varied in response to diluent temperature during operation of the dispenser.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for diluting liquid concentrate materials to liquid use solutions. An aspirator system (16) is adapted to receive a container (11a) of liquid concentrate in a reservoir (10). The reservoir contains means (13) to open the liquid concentrate. Additionally the reservoir contains means to support the liquid concentrate during addition of concentrate to the reservoir. When empty, the liquid concentrate bottle can be placed in a reservoir for the empty container (11b). The receiver has filling means for the container that can deliver dilute use solution to the container. The liquid concentrate container and the dilute use solution container are substantially identical. The apparatus is controlled using a flow controller (14) that activates liquid diluent causing the liquid diluent to pass through the aspirator drawing concentrate at a fixed dilution ratio. The aspirator can be used in a station with multiple apparatus, each adapted to a particular liquid concentrate and dilute use solution. The typical container for such a station comprises a plastic bottle (11) having a fitment adapted to the receiver opening means. The preferred container for the liquid concentrate contains a fitment comprising a closure for the bottle opening having impressed into the closure a circular indent operatively connected with a thick hinge member. When inserted into the reservoir, the opening means causes the fitment to fail at the circular indent resulting in a clean separation of the circular portion from the closure permitting the contents of the concentrate container to drain into the reservoir.
