A broadcasting transmission/reception apparatus and method for transmitting three-dimensional (3D) auxiliary video and non-realtime service information table in non-realtime is provided. The broadcasting transmission apparatus includes: a non-realtime broadcasting server configured to generate three-dimensional (3D) auxiliary video stream for 3D auxiliary video and non-realtime service information table data stream for a non-realtime service information table data including information needed to receive and restore the 3D auxiliary video before a time point when a 3D stereoscopic broadcasting service is provided; a media coder configured to generate two-dimensional (2D) video stream for 2D video at a predetermined bit rate based on a bit rate of the 3D auxiliary video stream; and a multiplexer configured to multiplex the 2D video stream, the 3D auxiliary video stream, and the non-realtime service information table data stream on a predetermined sub-channel.

A transmission device and receiving device for providing high-quality multimedia services in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) transmission system is provided. The transmission device separates input multimedia contents into a base layer elementary stream and an enhancement layer elementary stream, encodes the base layer elementary stream and the enhancement layer elementary stream, transforms the base layer elementary stream and the enhancement layer elementary stream into a base layer SL packet and an enhancement layer SL packet, transforms the base layer SL packet and the enhancement layer SL packet into a base layer PES packet and an enhancement layer PES packet, and multiplexes the base layer PES packet and the enhancement layer PES packet according to a base layer elementary stream and an enhancement layer elementary stream and outputs a base layer TS packet and an enhancement layer TS packet.

Provided are a system and method for providing a Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) data service related to a video service in digital broadcasting. A transmission device for providing a Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) data service related to a video service in digital broadcasting, the transmission device including: an encoding unit for a specific scene of a video to be broadcasted, TTI data related to a specific scene, and link data for linking the specific scene with the TTI data; and a broadcasting stream creating unit for creating a transmission stream in conformity to a broadcasting standard based on the video data, the TTI data, and the encoded and outputted link data.

Provided is an apparatus for coding a video, an audio and additional data according to a conditional access of terrestrial DMB. The apparatus includes an analyzing unit for analyzing input stream; a scrambling control unit for selecting a stream to be scrambled according to a selection signal; a transport stream de-multiplexing unit for de-multiplexing the input stream received from the analyzing unit, parsing an audio, a video and additional data classified by a packet identifier (PID), and outputting a stream to be scrambled, a stream not to be scrambled and the packet identifier (PID) for the stream to be scrambled according to selection of the scrambling control unit; a control word generating unit for generating a control word; a scrambling unit for scrambling the stream to be scrambled which is outputted from the transport stream de-multiplexing unit based on the control word generated in the control word generating unit; a conditional access data generating unit for receiving the control word from the control word generating unit and generating conditional access data; and a transport stream re-multiplexing unit for receiving and re-multiplexing the stream to be scrambled from the scrambling unit, the stream not to be scrambled from the transport stream de-multiplexing unit.

Provided is a Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) transmitting/receiving apparatus. The DMB apparatus for a high-quality video service includes: a source encoder for source-encoding audio and video signals into base layer streams and enhancement layer streams, individually; a base layer transmission processor for receiving the base layer streams from the source encoder, performing system encoding, multiplexing encoded base layer streams into transport streams, and outputting base layer transport streams; an enhancement layer transmission processor for receiving the enhancement layer streams from the source encoder, performing system encoding, multiplexing the encoded enhancement layer streams into enhancement layer transport streams, and outputting enhancement layer transport streams; and a layered digital broadcasting transmitter for receiving the base layer transport streams and the enhancement layer transport streams from the base layer transmission processor and the enhancement layer transmission processor, and modulating the base and enhancement layer transport streams into digital broadcasting signals.

Provided is a geographic information transceiving system and method using a digital broadcasting network. The system and method segments new geographic and map data of a region, on which a geographic information service is provided, makes data segment files of different sizes, and multiplexes and transmits the files. A geographic information transmitting system includes: a geographic information collector for receiving real-time geographic information and real-time traffic information; a geographic information processor for extracting/processing local geographic information and local traffic information from the geographic information collecting means and outputting whole area information, geographic information and traffic information for a plurality of resolution levels; a digital broadcasting unit for converting and transmitting the geographic information/traffic information data in conformity to digital broadcast signals; a geographic information multiplexer for multiplexing the geographic information/traffic information data; and a transmitter for transmitting the multiplexed geographic information/traffic information data to a corresponding region.

A transmission apparatus for broadcasting service according to the present invention includes a sync layer (SL) packetizer for receiving a base layer elementary stream and an enhancement layer elementary stream and generating an SL packet for the base layer elementary stream and an SL packet for the enhancement layer elementary stream, a packetized elementary stream (PES) packetizer for converting the SL packets into respective PES packets, a first transport stream (TS) multiplexer for multiplexing the PES packet and outputting a base layer transport stream, and a second TS multiplexer for multiplexing the PES packet and outputting an enhancement layer transport stream. The second TS multiplexer inserts a descriptor into the enhancement layer transport stream. The descriptor includes information about whether the enhancement layer transport stream is dependent on the base layer transport stream.

A method and apparatus for providing 3D still image service in a specific time interval during audio-visual service of digital broadcast are provided. The method includes receiving a reference image and a 3D supplement image, which construct a 3D still image, through a data channel or a video channel together with a 2D image; restoring the reference image and the 3D supplement image to the 3D still image; and displaying the 3D still image in a specific interval during digital audio-visual broadcast using the 2D image according to display information which includes a play time and a play mode.

Provided is a method for providing a DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service using an MPEG-4 object descriptor of a new structure to provide users with a realistic 3D image service while maintaining compatibility to a conventional DMB system, and a decoding apparatus and method for the DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service. The method includes the steps of: a) defining in a data service component type that a broadcast service is a DMB service, and defining a dimension of the DMB service in a user application type; and b) assigning a reference image and 3D additional information for a serviced 3D image as different streams which are independent from each other by using different object descriptors.
