    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composite plated film having superior adhesion to paint and corrosion resistance by adding a water soluble org. polymer made of a specified hydroxystyrene polymer to a plating soln., carrying out electroplating on a steel sheet or the like and regulating the amt. of the org. polymer deposited to a specified percentage of the total amt. of a metal and the org. polymer deposited together. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of water soluble org. polymers each made of a hydroxystyrene copolymer (deriv.) represented by the formula and having 1,000-100,000 weight average mol.wt. are added to an electroplating bath contg. about 10-600g/l metal ions. The amt. of the org. polymers added is 0.1-200g/l. The metal and the org. polymers are deposited together on a metallic material such as a steel sheet by electroplating in the plating bath. This electroplating is controlled so as to regulate the amt. of the org. polymers deposited to 0.05-30wt% of the total amt. This method is effective in zinc alloy plating or other plating.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form an electroplated film having superior adhesion to paint and corrosion resistance by using an additive contg. one or more kinds of water soluble org. polymers each made of a hydroxystyrene polymer (deriv.) having a specified average mol.wt. and a specified structure as essential components. CONSTITUTION:This additive for an electroplating bath contains one or more kinds of water soluble org. polymers each made of a hydroxystyrene polymer (deriv.) represented by the formula and having 1,000-1,000,000 weight average mol.wt. as essential components. The org. polymers are anionic, cationic or amphoteric. The additive is added to a zinc alloy plating bath or the like so that the amt. of the water soluble org. polymers is regulated to about 0.1-200g/l. When the additive is used, an org. polymer combined electroplated film having superior corrosion resistance in the naked state and after painting, superior weldability and press workability can be formed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acyloxybenzoic acid of high purity that is useful as a bleaching activator by adding a hydrocarbon solvent in a specific proportion in the reaction of hydroxybenzoic acid or its salt with a carboxylic acid halide. SOLUTION: Hydroxybenzoic acid of formula I (M , M are each H, a cationic group), for example, p-hydroxybenzoic acid or its alkali metal salt is allowed to react with a carboxylic anhydride of formula II (R is a 5-17C alkyl, alkenyl) as caprylic anhydride, pelargonic anhydride or lauric anhydride. During the reaction or after the reaction, a hydrocarbon solvent as cyclohexane, hexane, toluene or the like is added to the reaction mixture in an amount of 100-1,500 pts.wt., preferably 100-1,300 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the compound of formula I and subjecting the crystalline precipitate to vacuum filtration to produce a compound of formula III, for example, p-octanoyloxybenzoic acid.

The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a sulfonating agent and, as necessary, carrying out the neutralizing reaction.
