    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A quaternary ammonium salt shown by formula I [R is n-or iso-1-21C alkyl or alkenyl; R , R , R and R are 1-6C alkyl; R is n-, iso-or cyclic 1-22C alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl which may contain substituent group; n is 1-6; X(-) is anion]. USE:A disinfectant having low irritation, softener, rinse base, antistatic agent, etc. PREPARATION:A diamine shown by formula II is reacted with a maleic acid dialkyl ester shown by formula III to form a compound shown by formula IV, which is then reacted with a compound shown by formula V to give a compound shown by formula VI. This compound is reacted with a compound shown by formula VII (Y is halogen or alkyl sulfate residue) to give a compound shown by formula I.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To economically obtain a polyalkylindane useful as an intermediate for musk-based perfume by effectively utilizing an alkene dimer treated as a by-product in a conventional procedure by reacting an alkene dimer with alpha-methylstyrene in the presence of an acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An alkene dimer shown by formula I to formula Ill or a mixture thereof is reacted with alpha-methylstyrene in the presence of an acid catalyst, preferably a mixed acid prepared by blending sulfuric acid with acetic acid in the ratio of 1 sulfuric acid and 0.1-2.0, preferably 0.5-1.5, more preferably 0.8-1.2 acetic acid by weight at 40-120 deg.C, preferably 60-120 deg.C to economically give the objective compound shown by formula IV (R and R are H or methyl; R and R are methyl or ethyl) by effectively utilizing the alkene dimer, which has been produced in a large amount as a by-product by a conventional method and abandoned, as a raw material.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the composition capable of sufficiently cleaning not only a common stain but also an oil stain having a high degree of denaturation by adding a surfactant, a builder and water to a prescribed acetal derivative.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition containing a specific glyceryl ether, a surfactant, a builder and water respectively in a specified amount and exhibiting a high detergency on a hard surface of a kitchen, a bathroom, a wall, a floor, etc., regardless of the kind or the degree of a stain. CONSTITUTION:This composition is composed of (A) 0.01 to 50wt.% glyceryl ether derivative (preferably isopropyl glyceryl ether, etc.) of the formula (R is a 1 to 7C straight- or branched-chain alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl, etc.), (B) 0 to 50wt.% surfactant (preferably an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid salt, etc.), (C) 0 to 50wt.% builder (preferably ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, etc.) and (D) water as the remainder component. Both the components (B) and (C) are not 0wt.% and the total amount of the components (B) and (C) is 0.01 to 70wt.%. In addition, the component (A) is obtained, e.g. by conducting an etherification reaction between an alcohol compound and 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst, condensing the resultant etherified compound, subsequently hydrolyzing it and opening the epoxy ring of the reaction product.

CONSTITUTION:A branched fatty acid of formula I ((m), (n) are integers of 0-20, but (m+n)= 1-20)(preferably isostearic acid) is reacted with tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane at 160 deg.C for 6hrs to produce an oxazoline compound of formula II [e.g. 2-heptadecyl-4,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-oxazoline]. The oxazoline compound is mixed with water in an amount of 1-3 time moles, and hydrolyzed in the absence of a solvent at 50-150 deg.C to simply and inexpensively the objective fatty acid [e.g. N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl-isostearic acid amide] of formula III useful for cosmetic base materials, emusifiers, lubricants, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the new subject compound having extremely excellent lubricating properties, exhibiting excellent compatibility with most of solvents, capable of uniformly dispersing in water, useful for a base, emulsifier, etc., for hair cosmetic and skin cosmetic and capable of simply and inexpensively synthesizing. CONSTITUTION:A branched fatty acid amide of formula I (R and R are 2-24C straight chain alkyl, with the provide so that total carbon number of R and R is 4-26), e.g. N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl-alpha-octylarachidic amide. The compound is obtained by reacting a branched fatty acid of formula II with an equimolar tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane of formula III to afford an oxazoline derivative of formula IV and then hydrolyzing the oxazoline derivative. The reaction of the compound of formula II with the compound formula III is preferably carried out at 50-200 deg.C for 1-130hr while removing produced water. The hydrolysis reaction is preferably carried out in water or a mixed solution of water and 1-6C alcohol at 70-120 deg.C. Furthermore, the intermediate of formula IV is a new compound.
