    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the resin coated sand for improving the collapsing property of a casting mold obtd. by a shell mold method. CONSTITUTION:This resin coated sand is formed by coating the surfaces of refractory granular aggregate with a binder compsn. This binder compsn. contains the phenolic resin and the decay accelerator which is expressed by general formula B(OR)3 (where R denotes 1 to 4C alkyl group). The phenolic resin consisting of a novolak type phenolic resin, resol type phenolic resin or mixed system consisting of the novolak type phenolic resin and the resol type phenolic resin is usable as the phenolic resin. Other arbitrary components, such as lubricants and silane coupling agents, may be incorporated into the binder compsn. The casting mold by the shell mold method is obtd. if the resin coated sand is packed into a pattern and is cured by heating.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the binder compsn. for production of a casting mold having an excellent collapsing property. CONSTITUTION:This binder compsn. contains a binder which can be cured by a hardener and the decay accelerator which is expressed by general formula B(OR)3 (where R denotes 1 to 4C alkyl group). The binder which can be cured by a hardener consisting of org. ester and the decay accelerator are preferably incorporated into the binder compsn. in the case of production of the self-curing casting mold. The binder which can be cured by the hardener consisting of a strong acid and a weakly basic acid is preferably incorporated into the binder compsn. in the case of production of the thermally curing casting mold. The binder which can be cured by blowing gaseous or aerosol-like sulfur dioxide and org. ester, etc., is preferably incorporated into the binder compsn. in the case of production of the gas curing casting mold. The objective casting mold is obtd. by kneading the binder compsn. and the respective hardeners with refractory granular aggregate and curing the binder by a desired method.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the green molding sand compsn. for production of castings with which green sand molds having excellent surface stability are obtainable even with a small volume of water. CONSTITUTION:This green molding sand compsn. for production of castings contains surfactant as its essential components. All of anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, cation surfactants and amphoteric surfactants are usable as the surfactants. Bentonite is generally used as the clay in the green molding sand compsn. for production of castings. Carbides, such as coal powder, and starch, etc., may be incorporated as the arbitrary components of the green molding sand compsn. for production of castings into the compsn. This green molding sand compsn. for production of castings is formed by adding the clay and the surfactants to the sand. The surfactants are preferably added in the form of an aq. soln. The formation of the green molding sand compsn. for production of castings by adding an aq. additive soln. mixed with the surfactants and the clay, etc., to the sand is possible as well.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obviate the staining of a pattern by incorporating zinc powder having a specific average grain size, liquid oil having prescribed viscosity or below and org. solvent having a prescribed b.p. respectively at specific wt% into a parting agent. CONSTITUTION:The parting agent for a mold pattern is constituted by incorporating 2-50% zinc powder having =1 kinds selected from polyvalent fatty ester, phthalic acid ester, silicone oil, etc. having =1 kinds selected from arom. hydrocarbon of 6-14C, aliphatc. hydrocarbon of 4-12C, hydrocarbon halide of 1-8C, etc. into said agent. The coating property of the parting material is improved by the component constitution and compounding ratio of the parting agent, by which the amt. of the resin to be stuck to the mold pattern is decreased. The staining of the pattern is thus obviated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a binder which improves remarkably the strength of a casting mold by bringing the resulting product of reaction of furfuryl alcohol and isocyanate compd. into co-condensation with furfuryl alcohol, urea and phenol by formaldehyde. CONSTITUTION:Aliphat. isocyanate, arom. polyisocyanate, etc. are used as an isocyanate compd. and are used at about 0.05-1.00 molar ratio with furfuryl alcohol to form the resulting product of reaction. The resulting product and compd. of >=1 kind selected from furfuryl alcohol, urea and phenol are brought into co-condensation by formaldehyde to form a binder. The binder is used at about 0.4-3.0pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. refractory aggregate.

SOLUTION: Preferably, the compound having a tert-amino group and an NCO-reactive OH group is 6-dimethylamino-1-hexanol, and the compound having a prim-amino group and a prim-OH group is preferably a compound of the formula: A-(CH2)n-NH2 and/or a compound selected from among 3- aminopropanol, 2-hydroxyethylaminopropylamine, 2- hydroxyethylaminoethylamine, and N-methyl-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3- propanediamine.
