Abstract:
Certain aspects of the disclosure relate generally to search of radio access technologies (RAT). For example, certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for performing higher priority radio access technology (RAT) searches in areas having a plurality of overlapping RATs, such as Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and Long Term Evolution (LTE). According to certain aspects, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to periodically search for higher priority RATs in neighboring cells. According to certain aspects, upon finding a higher priority RAT cell, the UE may be further configured to evaluate, or "pre-evaluate", criteria for cell reselection from found cell to the currently camped cell, while still camped on the current cell. The UE may be configured to decide whether or not to switch to the found cell based on the evaluation.
Abstract:
A method an apparatus and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a user equipment performs an inter radio access technology (RAT) mobility procedure from a first network to a second network while idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) is active locally deactivates (ISR) in connection with completion of the inter RAT mobility procedure and initiates a location management procedure in the second network. Depending on the respective type of the first and second network and the connection state of the (UE) with respect to the first network the mobility procedure may be performed in response to a mobility command received from the first network or in response to a mobility condition of the first network as detected by the (UE).
Abstract:

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a user equipment performs an inter-radio access technology (RAT) mobility procedure from a first network to a second network while idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) is active, locally deactivates ISR in connection with completion of the inter-RAT mobility procedure, and initiates a location management procedure in the second network. Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a probability of occurrence of an event expected to occur within a period of time is determined, where the event comprises one or more of a tune-away event and a suspension event. One or more transmission control protocol parameters are manipulated before the occurrence of the event when the probability of occurrence exceeds a threshold to increase a retransmission time out parameter value, or to maintain a desirable congestion window size. The transmission control protocol parameters may be manipulated by delaying, duplicating or dropping acknowledgements and/or by selectively dropping received packets before, during, or after the event.
Abstract:
The application relates to session management in wireless communication networks, in particular LTE networks, where a PDN connection is disconnected locally by a user equipment UE while in LTE coverage. The standards assume that the network and the UE are always in sync. However, there may be situations, not anticipated by the standards, which may lead to the UE being out of sync with the network. For example, the UE might disconnect locally, e.g. via closure of a browser on the UE), and does not inform the network, e.g. because the UE was instructed to stop sending messages on a PDN for a predetermined time period. Therefore, when the UE request to reconnect to a PDN, the network may reject the UEs request as it still thinks that the UE is connected to the PDN. The problem is solved in that in the given situation the UE performs a tracking area update TAU procedure (812) before it requests to reconnect to the PDN (814). Another solutions foresees to start a TAU procedure whenever unexpected active radio bearer contexts exist.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provided techniques for wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques and apparatus for publishing service availability. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes providing status information to a presence server (306) that the UE (310) is available via the first network service, wherein the presence server (306) is a network- based entity that provides presence status services for a plurality of destination devices including the UE (310), detecting one or more operational limitations that might prevent the UE (310) from being available via the first network service, and updating the presence server (306), in response to the detecting, to indicate the UE (310) is not available via the first network service.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose techniques for independently signaling features supported by a user equipment (UE) in different duplexing modes. The UE may be capable of communicating in frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplexing (TDD) modes. The UE may obtain a FDD-specific feature group indicators (FGIs) set and a TDD-specific FGIs set, and signal at least one of the FDD-specific FGIs set or TDD-specific FGIs set. In addition, the UE may take one or more actions to reduce the likelihood of transitioning to a mode of operation that is different from its current mode of operation.
