The mobile stations include at least one first mobile (22) station operating in accordance with a first protocol standard (IS-95) and at least one second mobile station (24) operating in accordance with a second protocol standard (GSM). The base station subsystem (20) includes a paging/access manager (36) , which for each call between the base station subsystem (20) and one of the mobile stations (22, 24) routes the call via a network (26, 28, 30) responsi ve to the protocol.
