Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent intrusion of such ion as having no interest into the analyzing section by forming the ion source box with three-dimensional tetra electrodes while making an ion take-out hole through one endcap and taking out such ions as higher/lower than specific m/z. CONSTITUTION:Analyzing sample is led through a gap between a ring electrode 4 and an endcap electrode 6 into an ion source where it is impinged against an electron beam and ionized. When applying voltage onto the ring electrode 4 and the endcap electrodes 6, 8, m/z ions having unstable Z-axis are projected through an ion take-out hole 14 then taken out through ion take-out electrode 16 and led through an aperture 18 to the analyzing section 20. When employing this ion source as chemical ionization ion source, reaction gas as well as analyzing sample are led into the ion source where the reaction gas led through a gap between the ring electrode 4 and the endcap electrode 6 into the ion source. When applying high frequency voltage and D.C. voltage, three-dimensional tetra electrode can stabilize/unstabilize the ions within random m/z range.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the amount of ions introduced into the mass spectrometer and enhance the analysis sensitivity by arranging anion focusing lens between front and rear orifices in the mass spectrometer. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic lens 12, whose luminous axis is a line connecting the respective centers of a nozzle 9 and skimmer 8, is arranged, as an ion focusing lens, inside the first chamber 7. A part of plasma under atmospheric pressure is absorbed into the first chamber 7 from the nozzle 9 to form molecular beams. Though the molecular beams are likely to spread out at right angles to themselves, only ions in the molecular beams are selectively prevented from spreading out by the mutual action between the magnetic field of electromagnetic lens 12 and the movement of ions, which are accelerated with a few V of positive potential of plasma to the nozzle 9, caused by electron scattering. This composition serves the first chamber 7 as a separator in which molecular beams are separated into neutral molecules and ions, and then ions in condensed conditions are projected into the inside of the second chamber 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the outflow of reaction gas without decreasing the incidence efficiency of electrons by providing an ionization chamber with an ionization-electron- incoming hole consisting of a plural number of minute holes. CONSTITUTION:An ionization box (B) is provided with an ion-outgoing hole (a), a sample introduction hole (b), an electron-incoming hole (c) and a reaction-gas introduction hole (d). A filament (F) is placed outside the ionization box (B) and installed facing the electron-incoming hole (c). An electron-accelerating voltage of between the order of ten volts and the order of hundred volts is applied across the filament (F) and the ionization box (B). As a result, electron currents discharged from the filament (F) become an electron-ray flux perpendicular to the side surface of the box (B) and electrons corresponding to the electron-incoming hole (c) on the cross section of the electron-ray flux enter into the box (B). When two electron-incoming holes (c) with a diameter of 0.28mm. are provided for example, the amount of gas flowing out from the box (B) can be made 1/1.4 of that caused when an electron-incoming hole (c) with a diameter of 0.40mm. having the same surface area as the total surface area of two holes (c) with a diameter of 0.28mm. while mainitaining the incidence efficiency of electrons. Therefore an ion source in which the outflow of gas is suppressed can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the setting of optimum measuring conditions by providing a light receiving section with a single photo detector and a driving mechanism to move the photo detector in response to a scanning with an optical scanner so that the photo detector is always located at a position opposite to the optical scanner. CONSTITUTION:As a rotary drum 2 is turned, an optical scanner 12 and a light receiving section 30 are rotated. The scanner 12 has a reflector 26 oscillated with a motor and a light beam 24 from a light source scans to cover an area to be measured of an object to be inspected to be detected with a photo detector 34 moving maintaining an opposite positional relationship with a reflector 26. In this manner, with the turning of a drum 2, a radiating position of the light beam 24 with respect to the object to be inspected is changed along a circumferential direction centered on the object to be inspected at a fixed pitch over the entire circumference. This enables the setting of optimum measuring conditions to match the object to be inspected.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title spectroscope which is small in size, robust and inexpensive by driving a detector and interference fringes relatively along a surface on which the interference fringes are formed, thereby scanning the interference fringes. CONSTITUTION:The ray from a light source S is split to two rays (a), (b) by a translucent mirror BS and the bisected two luminous fluxes are reflected by reflecting mirrors M1, M2 and are joined by a translucent mirror BS. A lens mirror L is placed on the two rays (a), (b) which hare directed in the directions parallel with each other by the translucent mirror BS. The rays past the lens L are projected on a photodetector K. The detector K moves back and forth in arrow direction along the focal plane on the focal plane of the lens L. The image of the light source S, when viewed from the lens L, is divided two images which appear to be arrayed apart by 2 a according to this constitution. The interference fringes of an equal angle of inclination are formed on the focal plane of the lens L with such images S1, S2 as the light sources. The detector K is moved vertically and the scanning of the interference fringes by the detector K is executed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the putting in and out works of a collision chamber and shorten the time of evacuation, by installing a slit and the collision chamber side by side on a same base plate, and making the base plate slide in a direction vertical to the orbit of ions from the outside of a vacuum receptacle. CONSTITUTION:A collision chamber (C) is installed on a base plate (P) beside a slit (S). The collision chamber is one box, and its front and rear walls in an ion transmission direction are provided with openings (a) through which ions are able to be transmitted, so that a gas for activating the cillision can be introduced. Then, either the slit (S) or the collision chamber (C) can be located on the orbit (Ob) of ions, by sliding the base plate (P). Thus, they can be switched simply and quickly, and the vacuum of a mass spectrograph is not broken, so that the time of evacuation can be shortened.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable easy maintenance, long life of a scintillator and measurement in a wide dynamic range, by providing the scintillator near the last stage of a secondary electron multiplier and selecting two measurement modes, high sensitivity mode and normal measurement mode. CONSTITUTION:Mode 1 is selected by operating switches S1-S3 to disconnect a dynode Dyn at the last stage from a dividing resistor and connect it to an amplifier 38, in order to amplify ion current incident on Dy1 and feed it to a signal processing circuit. Voltage -Vs is impressed from a high voltage power soppy 34 on the metal film 24 of a scintillator 22 to repel electrons emitted from Dyn. In the case of mode 2, switches S1-S3 are placed on 'a'- contact side with voltage -Vd impressed on Dy1 from a high voltage power supply 32 and divided voltages impressed respectively on Dy1-Dyn. Voltage +Vs is impressed on the scintillator 22 by the power supply 34 to accelerate incident ion current, which has been amplified an Dy1-Dyn, and convert it into photons which are then fed to amplifier 38 via a photomultiplier 30.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To automate operation of an inductive coupling plasma mass spectrograph by controlling starting and suspension of the operation of the mass spectrograph by comparing the variation in the amount of light from inductive coupling plasma, which results from sample introduction and is detected by a photodetector which is installed in the mass spectrograph, with a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:Ions produced in an inductive coupling plasma torch 2 are collected by a sampling nozzle 8, converged by a convergent lens system 12 and then introduced into a tetrode rod 16 to separate the ions according to mass. Then, the separated ion groups are introduced into a secondary electron duplicator tube 18 and subjected to mass spectrography. A photodiode 20 used as the photodetector is installed on the central axis of the tetrode rod 16 in order to monitor the light of inductive coupling plasma. Variation in the optical amount of the inductive coupling plasma resulting from sample introduction is detected by the photodiode 20 and the detection result is delivered to a scanning control circuit 26. Operation of this mass spectrograph is started when the detection result is the same or higher than a predetermined level and stopped when the detection result is lower than the set level. Due to the above structure, it is possible to automate measurement by positively utilizing the light from the plasma.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the spectra of different substances to be simultaneously obtained so as to enable accurate measurement of the mass of a sample by using two emitters the currents of which can be separately controlled. CONSTITUTION:A sample the accurate mass of which is to be determined, is fixed to an emitter 1. A reference sample is fixed to an emitter 2. A current region in which the mass spectra of these substances are obtained, is measured beforehand. After current-controlling circuits 10 and 11 are adjusted in such a manner that the emitters 1 and 2 simultaneously enter a current region in which the two substances indicate their respective mass spectra, current feeding to the emitters 1 and 2 is started. As a result, the mass spectra of the two substances appear simultaneously, thereby enabling the distance between the two spectra to be directly measured.
