Abstract: PURPOSE:To apply both set holding and lock release correctly by interlocking the cassette loading by the cassette holding means and the lock releasing by the lock release means at a prescribed timing. CONSTITUTION:With a tape cassette 1 placed to a cassette carrier 15, the cassette carrier 15 is moved to the loading end position to load the tape cassette to a recording/reproducing section. While the tape cassette 1 placed onto the cassette carrier 15 depressed from the upward by cassette retainers 21, 21' supported freely turnably to the cassette carrier 15 when the cassette carrier 15 is moved from the ejection position to the loading end position, then the cassette 1 is held by the cassette carrier 15. Then the lock of the cover lock 4 onto a front face cover 3 is released by a lock release piece supported by the cassette carrier 15.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure the stable and sure operations to a tape cassette by positioning the tape cassette fixedly to a cassette carrier with the prescribed timing while the cassette carrier is moved along its horizontal moving locus. CONSTITUTION:When a prescribed operation is carried out to a tape cassette 1 with the prescribed timing while a cassette carrier 16 is moved along its horizontal moving locus, the cassette 1 is positioned fixedly to the carrier 16. Thus the stable and sure operations are ensured to the cassette 1. When the carrier 16 reaches the end part of the moving locus, the cassette 1 is positioned so as to move slightly to the carrier 16. Therefore the cassette 1 can be easily loaded to and unloaded from the carrier 16. In addition, the relative positioning is carried out smoothly between the cassette 1 and a cassette positioning means provided at a recording/reproducing part 49.

When such a constitution is used, the driving device can be miniaturized and, at the same time, the whole device can be miniaturized.

In addition, it contains opening and shutting mechanisms 32 and 33 which close the shutter 31 when an optical pickup is not used. It is constituted in such a way that the shutter is arranged and installed in a position which interferes with the light focusing means at least in an opened position and that the shutter 31 is moved to the side of the optical disk 11 so as not to interfere with the light focusing means when it is closed.

SOLUTION: At the time of operating a biaxial actuator 36, force is acted on the yoke 36f in the direction opposite to the drive of a movable part 36c. Consequently, the yoke 36f is vibrated, and although this vibration is transmitted to a glass epoxy substrate 31b, because of the existence of a space underneath, no vibration is transmitted to a sheet metal yoke 31a at all. Consequently, the sheet metal base 31a is never deformed by the vibration of the yoke 36f, and hence the optical pickup 30 is never deteriorated in optical characteristic.
