Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyamide film showing uniform surface characteristics and an improvement of the shape of the film wound in a roll and the suppression of a generated foreign substance to a minimum level at the time of recycling the film, and a magnetic recording medium showing outstanding output characteristics. SOLUTION: This aromatic polyamide film has a thin resin film with a surface sulfur concentration S/C of 0.003 or less as measured by an X-ray electron spectroscopy on a protuberance forming face and 1×10 6 to 1×10 8 pieces/mm 2 of the protuberance consisting of a particle having an average particle diameter of 10 to 100 nm. In addition, this film shows that the ratio of a mean roughness RaA (nm) of a central area at a scan range angle of 2 μm measured by an interatomic force microscope (AFM) to a mean roughness RaB (nm) of a central area at a scan range angle of 30 μm, satisfies formula (1): 0.5≤RaA/ RaB≤1.0...(1). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic polyamide film which shows good stability during processing and can give a magnetic recording medium having a high and constant output, reduced output fluctuations, and improved durability, wherein the unevenness of the number of surface protrusions on either surface of the film is specified. SOLUTION: In the aromatic polyamide film, the unevenness of the number of surface protrusions on either surface of the film is at most 20%, the Poisson's ratio i.e., a ratio between strains in the transverse and machine directions is below 0.4, and the surface having an unevenness of the number of protrusions of at most 20% contains a para-orienting aromatic polyamide and 0.1-20 wt.% different polymer. Further, it is desirable that the film has 200,000-20,000,000/mm2 surface protrusions having a height of 5-60 nm, at most 100,000/mm2 surface protrusions having a height of above 60 nm, and an unevenness of the number of surface protrusions of at most 10%. A magnetic layer having a thickness of at most 0.3 μm and having an unevenness of the number of protrusions of at most 20% is formed on at least either surface of the film to obtain a magnetic recording medium.

[PROBLEMS] To provide: a novel, industrially useful acrylic resin film excellent in all of transparency, weatherability, heat resistance, and toughness, in view of the fact that there has been no acrylic resin film having such properties; an acrylic resin film which comprises the acrylic resin film having, e.g., a hard coating layer formed on at least one side of the film and further having an antireflection film formed on at least one side of the film; and an optical filter comprising this film. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The former acrylic resin film comprises an acrylic resin having units of glutaric anhydride and acrylic elastomer particles incorporated in the resin, and has a total light transmittance of 91% or higher, a haze of 1.5% or lower, a value of the number of folding operations of 20 or larger, and a degree of thermal shrinkage less than 5% in at least one of the machine direction and the transverse direction in a thermal shrinkage test.
Abstract:
The present invention is an aromatic polyamide film, which is a laminated film consisting of at least two layers, comprising an aromatic polyamide and 0.1 wt% to 10 wt% of at least one or more different polymers, being contained at least in the outermost layer (layer A) of the film, subject to the condition that the following formulae are satisfied where d is the thickness of the layer A ( mu m); t, the circle equivalent diameter of the isles of the different polymer ( mu m); L, the major axis of the isles ( mu m); and s, the minor axis of the isles ( mu m). The aromatic polyamide film of the present invention is especially useful as a base film of a magnetic recording medium with high productivity since it is free from the wrinkling and weaving caused at the time of film winding and excellent in abrasion resistance on the film surface.
