    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery in which reduction in a high output capacity/low output capacity is lessened by limiting a relationship between conductivity and viscosity of a non-aqueous electrolytic solution in a nonaqueous secondary battery. SOLUTION: In a secondary battery provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution containing LiBF4 as electrolyte, a ratio (p)=σ/η of the conductivity σ (10 S/cm) to the viscosity η(cps) of the nonaqueous electrolytic solution is 0.5 or more. A mixture of a high dielectric constant solvent and a low viscosity solvent is desirable for a solvent constituent of the nonaqueous electrolytic solution. A combination of cyclic carbonate and chain carbonate is especially suitable, as it increase a high output capacity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide excellent collecting effect without losing the characteristic of carbon fiber by forming an electrode and a secondary battery using this electrode by using a carbon fiber and a conductive fiber other than the carbon fiber. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fibers 1 are arranged in one axial direction, and conductive fibers 2 other than the fibers 1 are also arranged in the same direction as the fiber 1. When the fibers 1 are arranged in one axial direction like this, the fibers 2 are provided perpendicular to the fibers 1, and the fibers 1 are bundled by the fibers 2, to fix the fibers 1 to some extent, so as to achieve good execution condition. By knitting the fibers 1 arranged in one axial direction into the net-like fibers 2, the fibers 1 is not scattered, while the collecting effect is also improved. When the fibers 1 have a form of cloth or of carbon fiber body structure such as a felt, the body structure, is knitted by the fibers 2, to form a collector electrode. The collecting effect is thus improved without losing the characteristic of the carbon fiber, and formation work of an electrode can be facilitated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the electrochromic element (ECD) having the excellent memory preferably of a colored state by inserting an ion conduction barrier film between an EC material layer and an electrolytic layer. CONSTITUTION:An EC material layer 13 consisting of tungsten oxide is formed by a vacuum vapor deposition method on a glass substrate having a 1st electrode layer 12. The ion conduction barrier film 14 consisting of aluminum oxide is formed thereon by a high-frequency ion plating method, by which an EC substrate is obtd. An electrolyte consisting of propylene carbonate added with lithium perchlorate is sealed between this EC substrate and a glass substrate having a 2nd electrode layer 16, by which the ECD is formed. The tungsten oxide is reduced and blue coloration is obtd. when the EC substrate is connected to a negative electrode and the 2nd electrode to a positive electrode and a DC voltage is impressed thereto.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety by forming a solvent for non-aqueous electrolyte from fluoro-carbonate and chain carbonate as major components, and arranging so that their proportion by volume lies within the specific range. SOLUTION: A solvent for a non-aqueous electrolyte is prepared by mixing fluoro-carbonate with chain carbonate in a specific mix proportion by volume. The fluoro-carbonate should have such a structure that part or all of the hydrogen atoms of a chain or cyclic carbonate having carbonate group (-OCOO-) are substituted with fluorine atoms. For example, the chain fluoro-carbonate should have such a structure as expressed by the given equation, where R1 and R2 are alkyl group, provided that at least either of them is alkyl group in which part or all of the hydrogen atoms are substituted with fluorine atoms. The mix proportion by volume (fluoro-carbonate vs. chain carbonate) should range from 5:95 to 90:10. This allows enhancement of the safety against a destructive test for the battery.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety and improve the battery performance by preparing a solvent chiefly from fluoro-carbonate and chain carbonate, and arranging so that their proportion by volume lies within the specific range. SOLUTION: A solvent is prepared from fluoro-carbonate and chain carbonate mixed in a specific proportion by volume. The fluoro-carbonate should have such a structure that part of all or the hydrogen atoms of the chain and cyclic carbonate having carbonate group (-OCOO-) are substituted with fluorine atoms. For example, the chain fluoro-carbonate should have such a structure as expressed by the given equation, where R1 and R2 are alkyl group, provided that at least either of them are alkyl group in which part or all of the hydrogen atoms are substituted with fluorine atoms. The proportion by volume (fluoro- carbonate vs. chain carbonate) should range from 5:95 to 90:10. Use of electrolytic solution of the described solvent composition permits a reduction of the rise of heat emission starting temp. and also the amount of heat emission.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a seconrary battery whose Coulomb efficiency is enhanced and charge-discharge characteristic is not reduced by using an electrode using a carbon material where silicon exists on a surface as an active material, as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION: A silicon element is made to exist on a surface of a carbon material such as carbon fiber by covering or the like. An electrode is formed by using this as an active material. This electrode is used as a negative electrode, and a secondary battery is formed by using nonaqueous electrolyte using lithium salt as electrolyte. A polyacrylonitrile baked body or the like is used as carbon fiber. As a positive electrode active material of this secondary battery, it is preferable to contain at least a lithium composite oxide. In the silicon element, the ratio of the silicon atom number to the carbon atom number is preferable to be in a range of 0.01 to 0.58 in respect of improving a charge- discharge characteristic. Therefore, an electrode by which reduction in discharge capacity at charging time after one day passes after charge and discharge is hardly caused and a secondary battery using its electrode, can be provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a secondary battery with excellent charge and discharge characteristic and good cycle characteristic by using a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a chain ether or cyclic ether, and filling the battery with an inert gas. CONSTITUTION: In a secondary battery using an nonaqueous electrolyte, the nonaqueous electrolyte contains at least a chain ether and/or a cyclic ether as a low dielectric constant solvent, a cyclic carbonate such as propylene carbonate is preferably used as a low viscosity solvent and the battery is filled with an inert gas such as argon or nitrogen. The chain ether preferably consists of 1,2-dimethoxyethane, and the content in the whole solvent of the chain or cyclic ether is preferably 10-90% by volume. As the electrolyte of the electrolytic solution, a lithium salt such as LiClO4 is suitable. A carbonaceous material such as carbon fiber is preferably used as a negative electrode, and a positive electrode preferably contains at least a transition metal compound capable of storing and releasing lithiumion.
