    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce electric resistance, improve gas permeability and improve jointing to a catalyst layer of a cell by forming the porous structure of one side layer of sheet material mainly composed of conductive material, to be coarse, and forming the porous structure of the other side layer to be dense. SOLUTION: The sheet material is formed in coarse and dense structure combining fibrous conductive material 5-10 μm in diameter and 1 mm or more in fiber length and fibrous conductive material 5-10 μm in diameter and less than 1 mm in fiber length. A conductive sheet of coarse and dense structure can be formed by forming a coarse porous structure surface of the fibrous conductive material 1 mm or more in fiber length and forming a denser porous structure surface of the fibrous conductive material less than 1 mm in fiber length. It is also desirable to form the conductive sheet of coarse and dense structure using an unwoven fabric structure sheet using carbon fiber 1-30 mm in fiber length for the coarse porous structure surface and using carbon fiber less than 1 mm in fiber length for the dense porous structure surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a semipermeable laminated membrane having improved uniformity of its performance as well as an increased rate of desalting and improved pressure resistance as compared with a conventional laminated membrane. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a microporous support membrane is coated with an aq. soln. of a water-soluble compd. having two or more reactive groups in one molecule. After the aq. soln. is swished off, the membrane is coated with a soln. of a multifunctional reactive reagent capable of reacting with the water-soluble compd. and a very thin film is formed to produce a semipermeable laminated membrane. In this method, part of the water contained in the microporous support membrane is evaporated after coating with the aq. soln. and swishing-off.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite semipermeable membrane having excellent permselectivity by using a polymer obtained by the reaction of polyaminodiphenyl ether with a multifunctional reagent capable of forming a covalent bond by the reaction with an amino group. CONSTITUTION:A multifunctional reagent capable of forming a covalent bond by the reaction with an amino group is allowed to react with triaminodiphenyl ether and tetraaminodiphenyl ether having a structural formula shown in the figure to form a cross-linked polymer. An extremely thin membrane layer consisting essentially of the polymer is provided on a porous carrier. In this case, an aromatic or aliphatic multifunctional amine having >=2 primary or secondary amino groups in one molecule or a water-soluble org. polymer having a reactive amino group at the terminal of the molecular chain or on the side chain may be mixed in the aminodiphenyl ether component.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite membrane with 20-30% increase in the water permeating velocity by allowing a compd. having a reactive amino group to react with a multifunctional reagent on a porous carrier, and bringing the surface into contact with a soln. of the multifunctional reagent. CONSTITUTION:A polymeric porous carrier membrane having several tens - several thousands Angstrom fine pores on the surface is prepared, and an aq. soln. contg. 0.1-10wt% compd. having >=2 reactive amino groups is coated on the surface of the carrier membrane. A hydrocarbonic soln. contg. 0.01-10wt% multifunctional reagent having an acid chloride forming polyamide or polyurea by the reaction with the amino group and an isocyanate is brought into contact with the coat to form a cross-linked membrane. A solvent which is the solvent of the multifunctional reagent and inactive on the membrane and the carrier is brought into contact with the surface of the membrane at temps. ranging from 20 deg.C to a temp. 10 deg.C lower than the b.p. The contact with is regulated to 10sec-10min.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite semipermeable membrane enhanced in its water permeability and reduced in the lowering of org. matter excluding capacity accompanied by the enhancement of water permeability. SOLUTION: This composite semipermeable membrane is constituted by coating a microporous support film with an ultra-thin membrane layer composed of cross-linked polyamide.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst layer superior in gas diffusibility, electron conductivity, proton conductivity, and discharge of water. SOLUTION: This electrode catalyst layer features that a catalyst-polymer complex, containing catalyst carrying carbon particles and polymer, is a three dimensional network porous structure. In manufacturing method of this electrode catalyst layer, a catalyst-polymer solution composition is produced by wet coagulation method for obtaining the electrode catalyst layer having high porosity and superior in gas permeability and drainability. An electrode and a film- electrode complex (MEA) using this electrode catalyst layer are inexpensive and superior in a high output characteristic because they use the electrode catalyst layer having said characteristics and an inexpensive electrode base material superior in gas permeability and drainability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain a high desalting ability and stable water permeability by providing a conjugate semipermeable membrane prepared by forming the ultrathin layer of a cross-linked polyamide consisting of the multifunctional aromatic amine and multifunctional halide on a microporous supporting fabric. CONSTITUTION:DMF solution preferably of polysulfone is cast to a predetermined thickness on the microporous supporting fabric consisting mainly of at least a member selected from polyester or aromatic polyamide. The surface of the porous supporting fabric is coated with an aqueous solution of the aromatic amide (such as m-phenylene diamine and/or 1,3,5-triamino benzene, etc.) having 2 or more amino groups in one molecule as an ultrathin layer of the conjugate semipermeable membrane having a substantial separability. After removal of the excessive squeous amine solution, it is then coated with the organic solvent of multifunctional halide (such as 1,3,5-cyclohexane tricarboxylic acid, etc.) to form the ultrathin layer of a cross-linked polyamide by interfacial polymerization, whereby the conjugate semipermeable membrane having a high desalting ability and stable water permeability can be obtained.
