    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having excellent heat-resistance, rigidity and impact resistance and moldable with injection molding machine by copolymerizing hydroxybenzoic acid, an aromatic dihydroxy compound, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, ethylene glycol at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer contains 40-95mol% of groups of formula I + formula II (R1 and R2 are aromatic ring) + formula III (R2 is group of formula IV) and 60-5mol% of group of formula V (R4 is aromatic ring) based on the whole polymer and has a molar ratio of (formula I)/(formula II + III) of 75/25-95/5 and that of (formula II)/(formula III) of 90/10-10/90. The polymer is produced by the deacetylating polymerization of (A) p-hydroxybenzoic acid, (B) an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, (C) 2,2'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and/or bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfone, (D) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid and (E) ethylene glycol after acetylating the hydroxyl group of the above components.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled particle having specific constitution unit, particle diameter and coefficient of variation, etc., and useful as an additive for cosmetic, paints, etc., to improve the water-repellency, etc., by condensing a silane compound and a polysiloxane using a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic compound as a solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective particle having a ratio of the major diameter to the minor diameter of =80% of a polysiloxane composed of (i) 0-20mol.% of a unit of formula I (R is 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl or phenyl), (ii) 20-95mol.% of the unit of formula II and (iii) 3-70mol.% of the unit of formula III can be produced by condensing (A) a silane compound and/or polysiloxane in (B) a solvent compound mainly of a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic compound in the presence of (C) a condensation catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The decarboxylation dimerization of lithium epsilon-aminocaproate is effected by heating and dry-distilling it alone to produce the titled compound such as alpha,omega- undecamethylenediamine, which is used as a starting material for high-molecular- weight polymers. CONSTITUTION:The decarboxylation dimerization of lithium epsilon-aminocaproate of formula I is conducted by heating and dry-distilling at 250-550 deg.C, preferably 300- 400 deg.C to produce 7-(5'-aminopentyl)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-azepin, that is, an amino-Schiff base. The purity of the raw material is enough to be at a level of 90% and the coexistence of an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide such as calcium oxide increases the yield. The starting material, for example, lithium epsilon- aminocaproate, is prepared by heating together epsilon-caprolactam and a lithium compound directly. EFFECT:The reaction proceeds almost homogeneously and smoothly with high reproductivity. The lithium carbonate, a by-product, can be reused.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A lactam is heated in the presence of water and a metal carbonate to remove carbon dioxide evolved, the product is heat decomposed to produce the title compound and the metal carbonate is recycled, whereby this process forms a closed system and gives high yield with industrial advantage. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of water and an alkali or alkaline earth metal carbonate such as lithium carbonate, a lactam of 5 or more membered ring, its oligomer, its ring-opened polymer, or its ring-opened monomer, omega-aminocarboxylic acid, is heated at 60-350 deg.C and the carbon dioxide evolved is removed to form a metal salt of omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid. The product is heated at 250-550 deg.C and dry distilled to give an amino-Schiff base of formula I (n is 4 or more) or II or its ring-opened hydrate, i.e., an alpha,omega-diaminoketone, and a metal carbonate, which is recycled. USE:A raw material for alpha,omega-diaminoalkane, which is used for the production of high- molecular-weight compounds.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which has excellent heat resistance, flowability, stiffness, mechanical properties and peeling resistance by using 2 or more kinds of liquid crystal polymers having heat-distortion temperature in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The subject composition is composed of 2 or more kinds of liquid crystal polymers having the structural unit of formula I or the structural units of formula I + formula II + formula III (X is formula IV and/or formula V; Y is formula IV through formula VIII, CH2CH2; when H is 0 and Y is formu la IV, X may be further NH; the carbonyls in the formula III are located in the para- and/or meta-positions to each other), and a heat distortion temperature of 190 to 280 deg.C, especially 190 to 220 deg.C wherein at least one polymer has struc tural units of formula IX + formula X + formula XI + formula XII (X' is formula IV, formula VII, formula VIII, CH2CH2 when R' is 0 and X' is formula IV, X' may be further NH; the carbonyls in the structural unit of formula XII are in the ortho- and/or meta-position to each other wherein more than 50mole% are in the p-position. The resultant composition has preferably 200 to 280 deg.C liquid crystallization starting temperature and less than 3,000 poise melting viscosity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain spherical fine particle of silicone having specific constitution unit and particle diameter and effective in imparting water-repellency and slipperiness, etc., to cosmetics, paints, etc., by condensing a silane or a polysiloxane in a solvent such as amine, amide, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective spherical fine particle of silicone having an average particle diameter of 0.2-20mum and containing >=80% of a polysiloxane composed of (i) 0-20mol.% of a unit of formula I (R is 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl or phenyl), (ii) 20-95mol.% of the unit of formula II and (iii) 3-70mol.% of the unit of formula III can be produced by condensing (A) a silane compound and/or polysiloxane in (B) a solvent composed mainly of an amine, amide and/or nitrile excluding nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic compound in the presence of (C) a condensation catalyst.
