    Abstract: An omega -lactam having 4-12 carbon atoms, an oligomer thereof or a ring-opened polymer or an omega -amino carboxylic acid corresponding thereto, is heated in the presence of water and a metallic carbonate compound to obtain a metallic salt of omega -amino carboxylic acid. Barium, calcium and lithium are the preferred metals. The resulting metal salt is converted to an amino Schiff base which may be used as a starting material for preparing an alpha , omega -diamino alkane which may or may not include an amino group as a side chain. This further produces a metallic carbonate compound. The metallic carbonate is returned and used again as a reagent for forming the metal salt of the omega -amino carboxylic acid to create a closed system.

    Abstract: An amino-Schiff's base, of formula (I), and/or a diaminoketone (II) having formula NH2(CH2)n-CO-(CH2)n-NH2 (where n is integer 3-11), is/are prepd. from a raw material consisting of 4-12C omega-lactams, their oligomers, their ring-opened polymers and/or corresp. omega-aminocarboxylic acids. Process comprises (a) heating the raw material with water and a carbonate of Li, Ca and/or Ba in a reactor heated to 60-350 deg.C, removing CO2 generated and recovering a metal salt, (III), of an omega-aminocarboxylic acid. (b) (III) is heated to 250-550 deg.C and converted to (I) and/or (II). A carbonate of Li, Ca and/or Ba is also generated. (c) The metal carbonate formed in (b) is returned to step (a), for further use. Provision of salt-forming step (a) forms a use for the by-prod. formed in (b). Water addn. in (a) prevents cyclisation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To separate the titled compound which is a useful amino acid while recycling the organic solvent phase for use, by hydrolyzing an aqueous solution of an alpha-amino-epsilon-caprolactam at a specific temperature, and bringing the solution into contact with a specific organic solvent in the presence of ammonia. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of an alpha-amino-epsilon-caprolactam is hydrolyzed at 110-160 deg.C, and the resultant reaction mixture obtained from the step (A) is transferred to a concentrating step (B) to adjust the moisture in the mixture to 30-70wt% for accelerating the separation in the next step. The resultant concentrate 4 is then transferred to an extracting step (C) and the condensed water 2'' to a separating step (D). In the step (C), the concentrate 4 is brought into contact with an organic solvent 5, e.g. chloroform, in the presence of ammonia to give DL-lysine and the remaining water as an extraction residue 6. An organic solvent layer 7 containing the unreacted alpha-amino-epsilon-caprolatam 1' is transferred to the separating step (D) and reused for the step (A) as a raw material for the hydrolysis with the condensed water 2''.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of high polymers in high yield readily in a short time, by dry distillation of epsilon-caprolactam, its ring opening polymer, or epsilon-aminocaproic acid in the presence of LiOH in a specific temperature range. CONSTITUTION:epsilon-Caprolactam, its ring opening polymer nylon 6, or epsilon-aminocaproic acid is dried up by distillation in the presence of LiOH(a strong basic decarboxylating agent) at 300-400 deg.C while distilling the reaction product amino- Schiff base. The LiOH is used in a molar amount of 1 to 2.5 times that of carbonyl groups in the raw material, and preferably monohydrate. USE:An intermediate of raw materials, e.g. alpha, omega-undecamethylenediamine, for the synthesis of high polymers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound, useful as a raw material of amino Schiff salt (polymeric material), by heating a mixture of an aqueous or alcoholic solution of omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid and lithium carbonate, thereby effecting the neutralization with the weak base. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of an aqueous solution or alcoholic solution (C1-4 lower alcohol) of omega-aminoalkanecarboxylic acid, e.g. epsilon-aminocaproic acid, gamma-aminobutylic acid etc., and lithum carbonate is heated at >= 65 deg.C to prepare lithium salt of omega- aminoalkanecarboxylic acid of formula I. The lithium carbonate is preferably used in an amount of >= 0.5 mol to 1 mol of the starting material.
