    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide resin composition suitable for preparation of automobile electrical equipment member housings which has high mechanical properties and allows little size change after a long time exposure to a high moisture atmosphere. SOLUTION: A polyamide resin composition for automobile electrical equipment member housings is prepared by mixing (a) a polyamide resin and (b) a lamellar silicate, wherein (b) the lamellar silicate is a lamellar silicate wherein the exchangeable cations present between the layers are exchanged with organic onium ions. A connector for automobiles or junction box for automobiles is obtained through injection molding of the polyamide resin composition.

SOLUTION: This polyamide resin composition is produced by uniformly dispersing (A) 1-20 wt.% of a phyllosilicate having 0.5-10 nm average layer thickness and 10-500 average aspect ratio and (B) 1-40 wt.% of a nonfibrous inorganic filler having 0.05-25 μm average particle diameter and 5-20 average aspect ratio in (C) a polyamide resin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition which can give magnetic cards or IC cards excellent in heat resistance, durability and mechanical strengths and capable of being embossed by mixing a thermoplastic resin selected among polyesters and aromatic polycarbonates with a platy inorganic filler having a specified mean particle diameter in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt., in total, at least one member selected among polyesters and aromatic polycarbonates is mixed with 2-25 pts.wt. platy inorganic filler having a mean particle diameter of 0.5-20 μm. The platy inorganic filler is exemplified by talc, kaolin, mica or glass flakes. Among them, talc is the most desirable. The polyester is desirably polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate or polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate. The aromatic polycarbonate is desirably one obtained from bisphenol A.

Further, the layer silicate (B) is the one in which exchangeable cationic ions present between layers have been exchanged with organic onium ions, and the thermoplastic resin (A) is at least one resin selected from a polyamide resin, a polyester resin, and a polyphenylene sulfide resin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystalline resin composition excellent in weld strength, dimensional stability and balance between rigidity and tenacity, and having only a low degree of anisotropy in mold shrinkage by kneading a liquid crystalline resin, inorganic filler and a specific compound (or polymer) in a molten state. SOLUTION: This liquid crystalline resin composition is obtained by kneading (A) 100 pts.wt. liquid crystalline resin (pref. a liquid crystalline polyester, a liquid crystalline polyesteramide, or the like), (B) 5-400 pts.wt. inorganic filler and (C) 0.05-10 pts.wt. olefin compound (or polymer), pref. (poly)maleic anhydride, having carboxylic anhydride group in a molecule in a molten state. The ingredient B is pref. non-fibrous inorganic filler having 0.05-10 μm average particle diameter or fibrous inorganic filler having 0.05-10 μm fiber diameter, and is pref. fibrous calcium carbonate, (fibrous) wollastonite, talc, clay, kaolin, silica or the like.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin pellet mixture which can shorten molding cycle in injection molding without detriment to the characteristics inherent in resins by using a mixture comprising a plurality of kinds of resin pellets different in average vol. SOLUTION: This mixture comprises a plurality of kinds of resin pellets different in average vol. In this mixture, the ratio (Va/Vb) of the average vol. (Va) of a set (A) of resin pellets having the largest average vol. to the average vol. (Vb) of a set (B) of resin pellets having the smallest average vol. is 1.0-10.0. The wt. ratio of set A to set B is pref. (99.9/0.1)-(0.1/99.9). A polyester resin compsn. prepd. by blending a polyester and a modified or unmodified polyolefin is esp. pref. as the thermoplastic resin to be used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a copolyamide excellent in moldability, heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, chemical resistance, etc., by specifying the distribution of amide groups in the polymer chain and the crystallization characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A copolyamide is produced by forming a precondensate from a 4--14C aliph. diamine and terephthalic acid under the max. pressure of 5-23kg/ cm G at the max. temp. of 260-330 deg.C and melt extruding the precondensate with a twin-screw extruder having screw segments having an L/D of 2 or lower to form a polymer with a high degree of polymn. The copolyamide has the distribution of amide groups satisfying formulas l and II (wherein X is an amide group from a 4-14C diamine and terephthalic acid; Y is an amide group other than X; [XY] is the ratio of the amts. of X and Y present adjacently to the total amide groups; [XX] is the ratio of the amts. of X and X present adjacently to the total amide groups; calcd. indicates a value calculated; and obs. indicates a value observed) and has a half crystallization time satisfying formula III [wherein t1/2 is a half crystallization time (sec); Tm is the m.p.; and T is the temp. at which the half crystallization time is measured].
