    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester composition capable of giving films of excellent transparency and slipperiness, containing crosslinked polystyrene granules having specific thermal decomposition temperature and other crosslinked polystyrene granules having each specific thermal decomposition temperature and porosity. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester composition can be obtained by incorporating, prior to or during the polymerization for (A) a polyester constituted of a bifunctional acid component consisting mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (pref. terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate) and a glycol component (pref. ethylene glycol), a total of 0.001-10wt.% of (B) crosslinked polystyrene granules >=380 deg.C in thermal decomposition temperature (esp. >=410 deg.C) and 0.01-5mum in mean size, and (C) other crosslinked polystyrene granules similar in both thermal decomposition temperature and mean size to those for the granules B, and 20-95 (pref. 30-80)% in porosity in the form of an ethylene glycol slurry.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the polyester composition containing an inorganic oxide mainly composed of a metal oxide capable of combining with silica and silica and having a specific porosity and especially having excellent balance of readily slipping properties and transparency. CONSTITUTION:(B) 0.01-10wt.%, preferably 0.02-2wt.% inorganic oxide mainly composed of a metal oxide (preferably titanium oxide or zirconium oxide) capable of combining with silica and silica and having 50-95%, preferably 55-80% porosity, 0.01-5mum, preferably 0.05-2mum average particle size and e.g., obtained by adding a mixed solvent of an organic silica compound and organic metal compound into an alkali solvent to deposit a primary particle, dispersing the primary particle into water to form a colloid particle and drying the resultant sol is added to (A) polyester consisting of bifunctional acid component mainly containing aromatic dicarboxylic acid and one or more kind of glycol component.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition excellent in slidability and transparency, by mixing a polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a glycol component with a specified inorganic oxide mainly consisting of a metal oxide and silica. CONSTITUTION:This polyester composition comprises a polyester comprising a diacid component based on an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one glycol component and an inorganic oxide mainly consisting of silica and a metal oxide bondable to said silica and having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mu. When the mean particle diameter of the inorganic oxide used is below 0.01mu, a film prepared from said composition lacks lubricity. When it is above 5mu, the transparency of a film decreases due to void formation, increased scattering on the film surface due to coarse protrusions etc. The amount of the inorganic oxide added to the polyester is 0.001-10wt.%, preferably, 0.002-2wt.%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A composition, obtained by blending a polyester consisting of PET with an epoxy group-containing organic lubricant and capable of being films having improved transparency, flatness, slipperiness and electrical characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A polyester composition obtained by blending 100pts.wt. polyester having main repeating units consisting of polyethylene terephthalate with 0.001-10pts.wt. organic lubricant having epoxy group. A lubricant consisting essentially of a glycidyl compound is preferred for the organic lubricant and the carbon number thereof is preferably >=10. Furthermore, inert particles, e.g. calcium carbonate, talc, etc., are preferably blended.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester excellent in surface properties, slidability, surface flatness, running resistance and abrasion resistance and useful for molding, e.g., a film, by performing esterification in the presence of a specified product of heat treatment and polycondensing the obtained monomers. CONSTITUTION:Terephthalic acid (derivative) is mixed with 1-4mol, per mol thereof, of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal compound (A) (e.g., LiCl), 1-4mol, per mol thereof, of a phosphorus compound (B) (e.g., methyl phosphate) and 1-3pts.wt., per pt.wt. component A, silicone compound (C) (e.g., methyl triethoxysilane), and the mixture is heated at 100-190 deg.C for 30-120min in the presence of ethylene glycol to obtain a product of heat treatment. Terephthalic acid (esterifiable derivative) is transesterified or esterified with a glycol in the presence of 0.005-0.5wt% (in terms of the metal components in component A), based on the formed polymer, said product of heat treatment and the obtained monomers are polycondensed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester, having improved surface characteristic and suitable for films, etc., by blending terephthalic acid (derivative) with an alkali (earth) metal compound and wax, heat-treating the resultant blend and adding the heat-treated blend to a synthetic reaction system of the polyester. CONSTITUTION:(A) Terephthalic acid (derivative) is blended with ethylene glycol in a molar amount of, e.g. 20 times or more based on the component (A), and further blended with (B) an alkali (earth) metal compound, e.g. lithium acetate, in a molar amount of 1-4 times based on the component (A) and (C) wax in an amount of wt% of 0.1-3.0 times based on the component (B). The resultant blend is heat-treated, preferably at 100-200 deg.C while stirring to give an additive, which is then added to a synthetic reaction system of a polyester before starting polycondensation reaction so that the amount of the component (B) expressed in terms of metal component based on the formed polyester may be preferably 0.005-0.5wt% to carry out the polycondensation and afford the aimed polyester.
