    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high quality polyester covered elastic yarn excettent excellent in crimping characteristics by the specified method, and to provide the method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polyester coated elastic yarn is characterized in that the coated elastic yarn is obtained by covering the outer periphery of an elastic yarn as a core yarn with a false twist crimped yarn of polyethylene terephthalate as a sheath yarn in a essentially twistless manner, the single filament fineness of the sheath yarn is 0.4-3.0 dtex, the number of filaments of the sheath yarn is 20-150 and elastic fastness elongation ratio of the covered elastic yarn is 30-80%. This method for producing the polyester covered elastic yarn is characterized in that a stretched elastic yarn is arranged in parallel with a polyethylene terephthalate yarn having 40-150% elongation, interlaced, subjected to drawing-false twist texturing to forma structure in which outer periphery of the elastic yarn as the core yarn is coated with the false twisted crimped yarn of poyethylene terephthalate as the sheath yarn in a substantially twistless manner.
