SOLUTION: Metal members 31, 30, which have respectively a protruded part and a recessed part of which top ends are more protruded and more recessed than the movable contact 27 or the fixed contact 26, are supported by the movable electric conduction shaft 27 and the fixed electric conduction shaft 25, and they are provided so as to surround the movable contact 26 and the fixed contact 25 respectively, and the protruded part of the metal member 31 and the recessed part of the metal member 30 are arranged so as to be engaged each other at the position where the fixed contact 26 and the movable contact 27 contact each other. With this structure, a switch device having a vacuum valve that has excellent insulating performance, even if no-load switching is made, can be provided.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve delay in current interruption by arc in opening and the wear of the surface of an electrode for extending the service life by relatively arranging a first electrode and a second electrode contactable with and separable from the first electrode under reduced pressure, and forming a carbonaceous electron emitting film as the field electron emitting area on both the electrode surfaces. SOLUTION: A fixed electrode and a movable electrode contactable with and separable from it are arranged relatively under the reduced pressure of a vacuum casing, and a carbonaceous thin film that is a field electron emitting layer is formed on a part of both the electrode surfaces by plasma CVD method. As the carbonaceous thin film, a polycrystalline diamond layer reduced in resistance by boron dope to regulate the electron emitting threshold field to about 10 V/μm is used form the viewpoint of the durability to impact in current re- input. According to this, the current is replaced by the field emitting electron current accompanying opening of a pole, and when the electric field is reduced by the separation of the electrodes, the electron emission is quickly settled, and the current can be interrupted without waiting for the current zero point. Thus, generation of arc can be suppressed to extend the service life.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent drop in breaking characteristics caused by fine particles generating from an electrode breaking by arranging a trapping part for trapping fine particles generating by contact or separation of a moving side electrode with or from a fixed side electrode around the moving side electrode and the fixed side electrode. SOLUTION: A plurality of small holes 10a which are not passed through are formed on the inner surface of a part surrounding fixed side electrodes 5, 6 of a shield plate 10A. When current is switched, fine particles or projections are formed on the surface of a contact 8, but since the contact surface is almost vertical, the fine particles drop onto the bottom inner surface of the shield plate 10A by gravity. Floatation or movement of the fine particles which entered the small holes 10a during moving by being driven with an electric field between electrodes in the small holes 10a where electric field strength is made weak even when voltage is applied can be prevented. Increase in energy caused by repeated movements and collisions of the fine particles and an interaction with projections on the surface of the contact are suppressed, and dielectric breakdown caused by the fine particles is prevented.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum valve such that damage to contact surfaces caused by an arc generated at the input of power can be prevented and, even if it is damaged, a decrease in insulation characteristic can be prevented. SOLUTION: An approximately truncated-cone-shaped projection 12a is formed at the center of the contact surface of the contact 12 of an electrode on one side, and in the center of the contact surface of the contact 11 of an electrode on the other side, a recess 11a is formed into which the projection 12a is fitted when both of the contacts come into contact, with the top surface of the projection 12a making contact with the bottom surface of the recess 11a. The outer periphery of the top surface of the projection 12a is chamfered, and the outer periphery of the entrance of the recess 11a is also chamfered, so that an electric current is carried by way of the top surface of the projection 12a and the bottom surface of the recess 11a. For the contact material of the recess 11a, a material having a higher tensile strength than the contact material of the projection 12a is used, so that even if the contacts are fused together, the fused parts are allowed to remain in the recess 12a, preventing insulation characteristic from decreasing at the gap between the contacts when a circuit is broken and when it is made again.

With the flexibility of the thin metal cylinders, residual stress due to difference in coefficient of thermal expansion on the brazed face between the insulating rod 15 and the thin metal cylinders 24 is relaxed. With this, the junction strength is reinforced and compared with the case where the insulating rod 15 and the metal rods 20, 21 are directly joined.
