    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high resolution on the whole central and peripheral parts of a screen, by forming a vertically strong asymmetrical focusing electric field in the vicinity of a focusing electrode and next forming a vertically strong asymmetrical divergent electric field in the vicinity of a final acceleration electrode so that both electric fields are separated by middle electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A main lens part is composed of the following parts: a focusing electrode 50, a final acceleration electrode 60, and one or plural middle electrodes 70, 80 disposed between the electrodes 50 and 60. A resistor 100 installed inside a tube and in the vicinity of an electron gun is used to divide a final acceleration voltage into prescribed values, and the divided voltages are applied to the middle electrodes 70, 80. A vertically strong asymmetrical focusing electric field is formed by penetration of the electric field into the focusing electrode 50. A vertically strong asymmetrical divergent electric field is formed by penetration of the electric field into the final acceleration electrode 60. The focusing electric field and the divergent electric field are separated independently by the middle electrodes 70, 80 to which fixed voltages are applied. Hence, resolution at the peripheral part of the screen can be much improved without sacrificing the resolution at the central part of the screen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure sufficient surface area of a resistor thus to prevent thermal breakdown by making one cross-section of at least one of plural electrode supporters in electron gun to be flat and inserting a resistor. CONSTITUTION:It is comprised of plural electrodes, electrode supporters 2a, 2b and a resistor 3 for supplying potential to at least one electrode. The cross- section of said supporter 2b along the advancing direction of electron beam is made flat at the side facing against the neck 19 while stepped by thin and thick sections at the other side. The flat section can contain a sufficiently long resistor 3 thus to ensure sufficiently wide surface area. Consequently, even when flowing such large current as an neglect the influence of undesired current such as inter-electrode leak current, the resistor 3 can be protected from thermal breakdown.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve good resolution over the entire area of the picture screen by applying a voltage increasing or decreasing synchronously with the deflection current to the fourth grid of a quadrapotential-type complex electron gun to form a symmetrical lens. CONSTITUTION:The fourth grid 5 consists of three plates. The first plate 8 and the third plate 10 have circular electron-beam holes 11, 12 and 13 and 14, 15 and 18 respectively. The voltage (V2) applied to the first and the third plates 8 and 10 is the same as that applied to the second grid 3. The second plate 9 has lateral rectangular electron beam holes 17, 18 and 19 and a dynamic voltage VD corresponding to the degree of beam deflection is applied to the second plate 9. Because of the above structure, the electron lens forms a symmetrical lens only when deflected. Consequently, it is possible to improve the resolution of the peripheral area of the picture screen without deteriorating the resolution of the central area of the picture screen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the resolution at the periphery without deteriorating that of the screen center by forming the first non-rotation symmetric lens with a pre- focus lens section and the second one with a main lens section and constituting so that the first and second non-rotation symmetrical lenses are at a right angle to each other.
    CONSTITUTION: When the first non-rotation symmetric lens 37 and the second non-rotation symmetric lens 36 are combined together, a nearly circular luminescent spot can be obtained due to their consolidated action, but the focusing action of the first non-rotation symmetric lens is stronger in the vertical axis direction, thus the incident position to the second non-rotation symmetric lens in the vertical axis direction is nearer to the center axis than that of the horizontal axis, thereby the spherical aberration applied from the second non- rotation symmetric lens is small. Therefore, when a beam is applied the deflection aberration, the oblong halo generated at diagonal sections of the screen can be made small and the resolution is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the focusing quality uniform by forming slits extened to the thickness direction of a dielectric substrate and facing to each other in rectangular direction and forming an electrode in both front and rear sides and the slits. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 33 and a capacitor 34 are installed respectively in a rear side of a pair of insulating supports 31 of an electron gun and in the other rear side. A terminal 36 in one end of the resistor 33 is connected with a shield cup C at the tip part and a terminal 37 in the other end is earthed through a variable resistor 40 and middle terminals 41, 42 are connected with middle electrodes Gm1, Gm2. Electron beams from a cathode are converged on a phosphor screen ultimately by main lens composed of an electrode G5, the electrodes Gm1, Gm2, and an electrode G6. Dynamic focusing voltage forms slits in the thickness direction from both front and rear sides of the dielectric substrates of the capacitor connected with electrodes to which voltage is not applied and to the direction rectangular to the thickness direction and an electrode is formed in the slits and thus electrostatic capacity is made large. As a result, a cathode-ray tube having uniform focusing quality is provided.

Furthermore, there is a relation of IH>=OH between the outer diameter OH in horizontal direction of the slide-fitting portion 163 of the electric-field compensating electrode 160 and the inner diameter IH of open end of the cup-shaped electrode 132.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease a beam spot so that the resolution of the central portion of a screen can be improved by forming a long hole in the intermediate electrode at the side of a focusing electrode and one open hole or a plurality of open holes in a portion of at least one electrode of a focusing electrode and a final accelerating electrode opposed to an intermediate electrode. CONSTITUTION:A long hole with a long axis or horizontal direction is formed in the intermediate electrode Gm1 at the side of a focusing electrode G5 of a plurality of intermediate electrodes Gm1, Gm2, and one open hole or a plurality of open holes corresponding to a single electron beam or a plurality of electron beams are formed in a portion opposed to the intermediate electrodes Gm1, Gm2 of at least one of the focusing electrode 5 and a final accelerating electrode G6. Even if a focusing electric field is made to change by changing a focusing voltage applied to the focusing electrode G5, therefore, almost no effect is produced on a divergence electric field, so that it is possible to make an electron beam into a condition of under-forcus in a vertical direction and cancel a deflecting distortion generated due to a strong deflecting aberration in a vertical direction. It is thereby possible to improve the resolution in the whole area of a screen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the preventing effect of the discharge phenomenon occurring in a neck and improve the withstand voltage characteristic by providing voltage extracting terminals to feed the voltage to electrodes staggeringly from a metal ring to the electron beam generation section side. CONSTITUTION:Voltage extracting terminals T1 and T4 and two voltage extracting terminals T21 and T31 between them are provided on a resistor 141 arranged behind the insulating support bar 13a of an electron gun 71. The position of the voltage extracting terminal T21 feeding the potential to the fourth grid G4 is largely drifted to the cathode 11a side, and a metal ring SR from the third grid G3 circling the resistor 141 is wound driftingly to the fourth grid G4 side. The voltage extracting terminal T21 is located on the stem pin 17 side rather than on the metal ring SR side. The occurrence of the discharge phenomenon in a neck is sharply controlled, and the normal operation can be prevented from being impaired or broken by the internal discharge of a cathode-ray tube.
