    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a color picture tube by which the deformation of a mask body is prevented and the degradation of a characteristic such as color purity is not caused by fixing an internal magnetic shielding body to a mask frame in the vicinity of a stud pin arranged on a panel inside surface. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 30 is formed of a mask body 32 and a mask frame 33 installed in a peripheral part of the body 32. An elastic support body 14 is installed on the mask frame 33. The mask frame 33 is locked on a stud pin 13 installed on an inside surface of a skirt part 1 of a panel 2 through the elastic support body 14. An internal magnetic shielding body 31 is fixed to the mask frame 33 in the vicinity of the stud pin 13. When the shielding body 31 is installed on the frame 33, pressurizing force applied to the frame 33 can be received by the pin 13 through the support body 14 so as not to be transmitted to the mask body 32. Thereby, the deformation of the mask body 32 is prevented, and the degradation of a characteristic such as color purity can be prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the breakage of an envelope by applying anisotropy to the shrinkage factor of a film coated on the glass envelope, and improving the mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION:Anisotropy is applied to the shrinkage factor so that the shrinkage factor in the direction 56 parallel with the glass surface 38 of an inner conducting film 33 is made smaller than that in the vertical direction 57. The compression stress F4 applied to the surface 38 is reduced, and the local tensile stress F5 generated as its reaction is reduced. The shrinkage factor is small, and the possibility that the film 33 becomes noncontinuous is small. Some shrinkage factor in the vertical direction 57 to the surface 38 can be given. The mechanical strength of the glass envelope of a cathode-ray tube can be improved, and the breakage of the glass envelope during the production process can easily be prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a better picture image on the whole surface of a picture plane by changing the strength of an electron lense with synchronizing with the deflection of an electron beam during one scanning period of the deflection scanning of the electron beam. CONSTITUTION:Prescribed voltage is supplied to intermediate electrodes 70 and 80 with a resistor 100, and a variable resistor 105 is connected to the lower end of the resistor 100 to permit the variation of the voltage of the electrodes 70 and 80. A main lense is formed with a fifth electrode 50, the intermediate electrodes 70 and 80, and a sixth electrode 60 to focus the electron beam on a picture plane. The curvature of an equpotential line in a vertical direction becomes smaller than that in a horizontal direction by the effect of the electrode 50 side wall, and a focussing action in the vertical direction becomes stronger than that in the horizontal direction. Consequently the changing of focusing voltage permits giving distortion, so as to offset deflection distortion, to the electron beam to obtain a better picture image in the whole surface of the picture plane.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To have good color purity by selecting three stud pins for supporting temporarily so that an area of the part overlapping a shadow mask may be about 1/2 of the projection area on the plane orthogonal to a tube axis of the shadow mask when a shadow mask is fitted in a panel. CONSTITUTION:When a nearly rectangular shadow mask 5 is fitted in a nearly rectangular panel 2, an area of the part overlapping the shadow mask 5 of the projection area on the plane orthogonal to a tube axis of a triangle having three stud pins 21 supporting this shadow mask 5 as the tops may be about 1/2 of the projection area on the plane orthogonal to the tube axis of the shadow mask 5. Then, in this state, the shadow mask 5 is fitted in the panel 2 while adjusting an interval between the shadow mask 5 and the inside of the panel 2 so that the shadow mask 5 can be temporarily supported stably and the shadow mask 5 can be fitten in the panel with good accuracy. Thereby, a color picture tube having good color purity can be made.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To ristrict deterioration of color purity caused by pertial thermal disformation of a shadow mask by making a radius of curvature in Y-axis direction smaller on the periphery than that in the center of a faceplate on the crossing line of the rectangle-shaped effective curved surface of a panel with Y axis. CONSTITUTION:A color picture tube is provided with a panel 24 having a rectangle-shaped effective curved surface, a fluorescent screen 30 formed on the inner surface of this panel 24 and a curved surface-shaped shadow mask 36 having an effective curved surface in which many holes are formed through which electron beams pass. A radius of curvature in Y-axis direction on a crossing line of this panel effective curved surface with Y-axis (a minor axis) is made smaller on the periphery than that in the center of a faceplate. Accordingly, it is possible to ristrict deterioration due to disformation while restricting thermal disformation of the shadow mask 36 and also to give a reflected image with no sense of incompatibility.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively control the thermal deformation of a shadow mask regardless of the flatness of a faceplate by forming a curved surface shadow mask into a specific shape. CONSTITUTION:The Z-axis is set in the tube axis direction of a color cathode- ray tube, the long X-axis is set in the horizontal direction of a shadow mask, and the short Y axis is set vertically to it. The Z-axis direction distance between a top point M1 on the X-Z axis plane of the intersecting line Y2 between the plane parallel to the Y-Z axis and the effective curved surface of the shadow mask and a point N1 or N'1 at the effective end section of the longitudinal side, i.e., the height on the cross section parallel to the short Y-axis of the shadow mask, is increased as it approaches the effective end section P of the X-axis from the Y-axis (X=0) gradually at first and becomes maximum at the middle point M1 then is decreased gradually. It is slightly larger at the end section P than on the Y-axis. Accordingly, the mislanding of the shadow mask due to the thermal deformation can be effectively corrected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture tube of good workability and high mass productivity by constructing the holder with a fixing portion and an attaching portion and providing a bent portion on the screen side end portion of the locking member fixed to the attaching portion. CONSTITUTION:The screen 4 side end portion 13a of a locking member 13 is bent in the direction aparting from the side wall of a panel 1 to form the bending portion 130, and the screen side end portion 13a is fixed to the connecting portion 12b of the holder by welding. Even if the holder 12 is bent to attach or detach the shadow mask in the panel 1, the end portion having a sharp edge is not touched to the stud pin 10 especially for the sake of the said bending portion 130 on the screen side end portion 13a. Thereby even if the locking member 13 is contacted to the stud pin 10, the chance of producing the damage of the stud pin 10 or the deformation of the holder can be reduced significantly to improve the workability greatly.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a thin frame usable, by installing elastic supporters to be situated in the longitudinal central part of the frame anew in addition to the other elastic supporters being situated corner parts of the frame when the frame of a shadow mask to be built in a color picture tube is clamped on an inner wall of the picture tube. CONSTITUTION:A vacuum envelope is constituted of a substantially rectangular panel 10, a flare-formed funnel 12 and a neck 13, and a phosphor screen 14 consisting of a striped phosphor layer of red, green and blue is installed in an inner surface of the panel 10. And, an in-line type electron gun 16 emitting three electron beams 20 corresponding to each color is set up in the neck 13, and there is provided with a mask frame 17 which supports a shadow mask 15 having a lot of slit openings so that the shadow mask is set near the screen. In this constitution, a corner part of the frame 17 are clamped to an inner surface of the envelope with elastic supporters 18a and stud pins 19, but furthermore at the central parts of the longitudinal sides of the frame 17 is also clamped with a similar elastic supporter 18b, making it suitable for a large-sized picture tube.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in a residual emission rate, by installing a process which applies suspension inclusive of a metallic alkoxide compound on the surface of a shadow, mask, and also another process which performs heat treatment for the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:Suspension of an alkoxide compound consisting of silicon containing zircon and zirconia is applied to one side of main surfaces having a through hole 7a of a shadow mask 7, for example, to a main surface coming to a concave surface at the side of an electron gun 6 when being set up oppositely proximate to a screen 4, and it is heated in an atmosphere of more than 70 deg.C in temperature whereby a layer 13 is formed up. The alkoxide compound of silicon and zirconia applied to the shadow mask 12 caused hydrolysis due to moisture or the like in the atmosphere in an ambience of more than 70 deg.C in temperature, and in consequence, there is produced a film due to a condensation polymerization reaction between alkoxide themselves, thereby forming a mixture layer of amorphous silicon containing zircon, a metallic oxide of zirconia and metal hydroxide.
