    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide good resolution on the whole screen by forming an auxiliary lens section with three electrodes forming a unipotential electronic lens and an electrode forming an asymmetrical lens. CONSTITUTION:The main lens section of an electron gun 25 is constituted of a focusing electrode G5 applied with the dynamic focus voltage, intermediate electrodes Gm1, Gm2, and a final accelerating electrode G6 to form an asymmetrical lens. An auxiliary lens section is constituted of electrodes G3, G4, G5 forming a unipotential electronic lens and an electrode Gs forming an asymmetrical lens. The AC voltage component of the dynamic focus voltage applied to G5 is also induced to Gs, and the change of the lens action of the asymmetrical lens of the main lens section can be compensated by the change of the lens action of the asymmetrical lens of the auxiliary lens section. The resolution is improved on the whole screen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning with high accuracy by forming a notch or a protrusion for positioning the rotational direction and position of a cylinder- shaped second electrode to a first electrode, on a phosphor screen side end part of the second electrode, and by engaging it with a notch or protrusion for positioning an electron gun assembly jig. CONSTITUTION:Notches 29 of 1-2mm in width as well as in depth for positioning are formed on both ends in a horizontal direction of a point of a cylindrical electrode G6T of a sixth grid G6. The notch 29 for positioning formed on the point of the cylindrical electrode G6T of the sixth grid G6 is installed on a column part 35 of an assembly jig 36 in such a way that the notch is engaged with a protrusion 40 for positioning of an assembly jig 33. The sixth grid G6 is positioned in an axial direction by the airtight connection between a phosphor screen side end part of the cylindrical electrode G6T, and a substrate 34, and is arranged on the same axis as a fifth grid G5 installed on the assembly jig 36, through the fitting of the cylindrical electrode G6T to the column part 33. The positioning in a rotational direction is carried out by means of the engagement of the notch 29 and the protrusion 40 for positioning.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent degrading the spot diameter at prescribed positions of a fluorescent plane and improve the resolution of images by dividing electron lens of in-line-type electron guns into two and providing a function to compensate excess or less focusing degree of the first lens to the second lens. CONSTITUTION:A second electron lens L20 having low lens function in Y- direction and long and moderate lens function in X-direction is formed between a third grid 5 and a fourth grid 6. When the voltage of the grid 6 becomes higher than a planed value Vf of a convergence voltage, the lens L20 works as lens having focusing function to the horizontal (X-axis) direction and electron beams 9B, 9R in both sides deflected toward the central electron beam 9G since voltage of the grid 5 is set to be voltage Vf. Since the focusing degree of the first lens L10 is lower than the set value, as a whole the focusing degree becomes the same as the planed value. In the reverse case, the lens L20 works as lens having scattering function and the planed value is compensated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the resolution at the peripheral section of a screen by balancing the first and second asymmetrical focusing electric fields having a stronger focusing action in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction and the asymmetrical divergent electric field having a stronger diverging action in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION:When an electron beam 36 is not deflected, it is focused at the optimum state on a screen 13 in both the horizontal and vertical directions, and a nearly circular beam spot is obtained. When the electron beam is deflected, two focusing lenses 37 and 38 are rarely changed from the base when it is not deflected, and a diverging lens 39 is not changed with the intermediate voltage set constant. The sensitivity of lenses 37 and 38 is weakened by the rise of the focusing voltage in the vertical direction, and an under-focus state is obtained. A color picture tube device arranged with an electron gun 16 has a nearly circular beam spot at the center section of the screen 13, a halo section with low intensity in the vertical direction is removed at the peripheral section, and high resolution is obtained over the screen 1 with a margin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make convergence condition of an electron beam optionally variable by arranging a capacitance element to be connected within a tube on at least one of other electrodes not supplied with a dynamic potential. CONSTITUTION:Incorporating a capacitance element 300 in a tube, one end of said element 300 is connected to any electrode other than electrodes 30, 50 to which a dynamic potential VD is applied, with the other end connected to a ground potential or a DC power source. Namely, if said other end of the capacitance element 300 is connected to the ground potential or the DC power source, overlapping AC component is bypassed through the capacitance element 300 to the ground potential. As a result, little AC components of the overlapping dynamic potential remain in the electrode connected to the capacitance element 300, and an electron lens works normally. This makes it possible to vary the convergence condition of the electron lens as required and to obtain a cathode- ray tube having a high resolution over the entire area of the screen.

CONSTITUTION:A fourth grid 40 is constituted of a first 4th grid 41 being set up at the side proximate to cathodes KR, KG and KB and having apertures 41R, 41G and 41B corresponding to each of three electron beams and a second 4th grid 42 being set up at the more distant side than these cathodes KR, KG and KB and having apertures 42R, 42G and 42B corresponding to each of these three electron beams. And, each center axis of these apertures 41R, 41G and 41B of the first 4th grid 41 is shifted from each center axis of these apertures 42R, 42G and 42B of the second 4th grid in the opposite direction to each other and also in the electron beam horizontal scanning direction each as centering on each center axis of these three electron beams emitted out of these cathodes.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a clear and sharp picture while deflecting an electron beam in the horizontal scanning direction by applying different kinds of voltage between two specifically-shaped electrodes of a color picture tube. CONSTITUTION:The negative electrodes KR, KG, KB and the first-sixth grids 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 are arranged in the electron beam emitting direction in this order with intervals. In the grid 40, electrode members 41 and 42, in which a plate-shaped electrode is provided with a cylindrical projection 43, are opposedly arranged. The surface formed by the tip of said cylindrical projection 43 is non-parallel to the vertical plane to a tube axis while being the inclined surface practically parallel to the horizontal scanning direction. When higher voltage is impressed on the electrode member 41 than on the electrode member 42, an electron beam is deflected to the direction B. Further, when higher voltage is impressed on the electrode member 42 than on the electrode member 41, the electron beam B is deflected to the direction A. The direction and angle of deflection are all the same as to the central beam and both side beams. Thereby, halo of the side beams can be remarkably reduced so as to obtain a clear and sharp picture.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a practical, high resolution and high performance electron gun structure, by connecting one end of a resistor to an acceleration electrode, the intermediate section to other electrodes except a focus electrode in main lens section and the other end to the ground potential, then applying predetermined voltages onto respective electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A cathode 6 is maintained at a cut-off voltage of 150V, for example, and a modulation signal is applied. While a first grid 11 is applied with a ground potential same with that at one end of a resistor 3 and a second grid 12 is applied with a voltage of 700V, for example. A third grid 13 is applied with an intermediate voltage of about 6-8kV while a fifth grid 15 and a convergence electrode 17 are applied with a high voltage of about 25kV. An intermediate electrode or a fourth grid 14 is applied with a voltage of about 16kV as a split potential of the ground potential through the resistor 3 and the high voltage of about 25kV. With such arrangement, an electrostatic lens having a long focus length is formed, thereby the electro-optical magnifying power and the spherical aberration can be reduced, resulting in improvement of the lens performance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the distortion of outer electron beams, by making the diameter of both the outer electron beam apertures of an auxiliary lens unit larger than that of the central electron beam aperture thereof, and equalizing the diameter of both the outer electron beam apertures of a main lens unit to that of the central electron beam aperture thereof. CONSTITUTION:A cathode K, a first electrode 1, a second electrode 2, a third electrode 3, a fourth electrode 4, a fifth electrode 5 and a sixth electrode 6 are disposed in that order to constitute an electron gun for a color picture tube. A complex lens system is composed of an auxiliary lens unit 8 including the third, the fourth and the fifth electrodes, and a main lens unit 9 including the fifth and the sixth electrodes. The diameter of both the outer electron beam apertures of the electrodes of the auxiliary lens unit 8 is made larger than that of the central electron beam apertures thereof. The diameter of both the outer electron beam apertures of the electrodes of the main lens unit 9 is equalized to that of the central electron beam apertures thereof. The difference between the converged states of a central electron beam and each of both outer electron beams is thus eliminated by a relatively simple means to achieved good focusing performance for the entire faceplate of the color picture tube.

Therefore, readjustment of convergence after the picture tube is arranged is eliminated and a flexibility of picture tube can be enhanced by aligning the convergence point of electron beam to the predetermined position.
