Abstract:
In some embodiments, methods and systems of identifying at least one pest based on crop damage detection in a crop-containing area include an unmanned vehicle including at least one sensor configured to detect at least one type of pest damage on at least one crop in the crop-containing area and to capture pest damage data. An electronic database includes pest damage identity data associated with one or more crop-damaging pests, and a computing device communicates with the unmanned vehicle and the electronic database via a network. The unmanned vehicle transmits the captured pest damage data via the network to the computing device and, in response to receipt of the captured pest damage data from the unmanned vehicle, the computing device accesses the pest damage identity data on the electronic database to determine an identity of one or more pests responsible for the detected type of pest crop damage.

Abstract:
An unattended retail storefront that is installed in a consumer's residence. The unattended retail storefront includes an unsold product display and storage area, a retail-access portal that provides selective access from within the consumer's residence to the unsold product display and storage area to thereby provide a consumer in the consumer's residence with physical shopping access to the unsold product display and storage area, and an inventory-loading portal that provides selective access from outside the consumer's residence to the unsold product display and storage area, to thereby provide a retail enterprise with inventory-maintenance access to the unsold product display and storage area. Part or all of the unsold product display in storage area may be refrigerated. One or both of the aforementioned portals may be lockable as desired. By one approach the retail-access portal can be configured to automatically lock when the inventory-loading portal is opened.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, methods and systems of facilitating movement of product-containing pallets include at least one forklift unit configured to lift and move the product-containing pallets, at least one motorized transport unit configured to mechanically engage and disengage a respective forklift unit, and a central computer system in communication with the at least one motorized transport unit. The central computer system is configured to transmit at least one signal to the at least one motorized transport unit. The signal is configured to cause the at least one motorized transport unit to control the at least one forklift unit to move at least one of the product-containing pallets.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, systems, apparatuses, methods, and processes are provided to control and allocate UASs. In some embodiments, a system to control unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), comprises: one or more wireless transceivers configured to communicate with the UAS; a control circuit coupled with the transceiver(s); and a memory coupled to the control circuit and storing computer instructions that when executed by the control circuit cause the control circuit to perform the steps of: receive sensor data captured by at least one sensor of a UAS; determine, from the sensor data, unique identification of an object at a predefined location; and confirm, from the sensor data, that the identified object is an expected object expected at the predefined location.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, systems, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to facilitate and fulfill remote shopping or remote item selection. In some embodiments, a shopping system is provided that includes a shopping or selection user interface configured to receive a shopping list, a database of shopping lists, an item retriever user interface configured to display multiple shopping lists stored by the database, and a central computer. By one approach, the central computer presents a set of shopping lists, via the item retriever user interface, from the database of shopping lists, receives a list selection, receives an indication that one or more of the requested items has been retrieved from the item retriever user interface (or the point of sale terminals in communication with the central computer), and updates the database accordingly.
Abstract:
Generally speaking, pursuant to these various embodiments a retail shopping facility contains various items available for purchase. A corresponding memory stores registered ownership information provided at least in part by a consumer in conjunction with purchasing a retail item at the retail shopping facility. A corresponding control circuit provides a possession-transfer opportunity by which an owner of the retail item can offer possession of the retail item to another party. When the owner of the retail item selects that possession-transfer opportunity for the retail item, the control circuit uses the registered ownership information to offer possession of the retail item to other parties who may be potentially interested in possessing the retail item.

Abstract:
A delivery management system comprises a communication device that receives a notification of a communication established between an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that delivers a payload and a delivery box constructed and arranged to receive the payload from the UAV when the UAV is a predetermined distance from the delivery box and moving in a direction toward the delivery box, the communication including an identity of the UAV; a verification device that processes the notification and validates the identity of the UAV; and an instruction generator that generates an instruction to the delivery box to open the delivery box in response to the verification device validating the identity of the UAV and a determination by the communication device that the communication is established between the UAV and the delivery box. The communication device includes an autolocker communication device that outputs the instruction to the delivery box.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, systems, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to delivery packages using unmanned delivery aircrafts. Some embodiments include product delivery systems, comprising: a transceiver; a control circuit; a memory coupled to the control circuit and storing computer instructions that when executed by the control circuit cause the control circuit to perform the steps of: receive, from a customer, an authorization to deliver a product by an unmanned delivery aircraft; receive, from a portable user interface unit associated with the customer, global location information of a current location of the user interface unit and that designates a delivery location where the customer would like the product delivered; and initiate a delivery, by an unmanned delivery aircraft, of the product to the delivery location defined by the global location information received from the user interface unit.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, systems, apparatuses and methods are provided to enhance delivery of packages and/or cargo through the use of unmanned delivery aircraft. In some embodiments, a mechanical package release system is provided that comprises: a package release hanger configured to couple with and suspend from an unmanned delivery aircraft; and one or more tension supports each configured to secure with a package and to releasably couple with the package release hanger wherein a decrease of at least a threshold amount of a force being applied by the weight of the package on the one or more tension supports induces a mechanical release of the coupling between the one or more tension supports and the package release hanger resulting in a release of the package from the unmanned delivery aircraft.
