Abstract:
A steel cord (20) adapted for the reinforcement of elastomer products, comprises a Single core filament (22) with a core filament diameter D 0 and 3N layer filaments (24, 26) twisted around the core filament in the same direction and with the same step. N ranges from four to five. The 3N layer filaments is arranged in an intermediate layer of N filaments (24) having an intermediate layer diameter D 1 and in an outer layer of 2N filaments (26) having an outer layer diameter D 2 and the steel cord (20) has the following characteristics (D 0 , D 1 , D 2 in mm ): D 0 ≤D 1 2 .
Abstract:
A steel cord (10) for reinforcing rubber product comprised core strands (12) and outer strands (14), the outer strands (14) are helically twisted around the core strands (12). Each of the stands including core strands (12) and outer strands (14) comprises core steel filaments (20) with the number of m and outer steel filaments (22) with the number of n. the diameter of the core steel filament (20) in the core strand (12) is Dec, the diameter of the outer steel filament (22) in the core strand (12) is Doc, the diameter of the core steel filament (20) in the outer strand (14) is Deo, the diameter of the outer steel filament (22) in the outer strand (14) is Doo, the ratio of Dec/Doc is not less than 1.04, the ratio of Dco/Doo is not less than 103, the ratio of Doc/Deo is not less than 1. The core steel filaments (20) and outer steel filaments (22) are polygonally preformed before being twisted into strands. The steel cord (10) is used for reinforcing off-the-road tire.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a single wire steel cord for reinforcing rubber of a pneumatic tire having improved strength and adhesion to rubber and, more particularly, to a single wire steel cord which includes waveform regions having at least one waveform and non-waveform regions. The single wire steel cord has a high strength characteristic. Accordingly, the amount of steel cord is significantly reduced during manufacturing of a tire. As a result, the weight of the tire is reduced and manufacturing cost is lowered due to a simplified manufacturing process.

Abstract:
A polymer impregnated steel cord (100) is presented .The steel cord discriminates itself from other prior art impregnated steel cords in that the polymer also fills the voids that exist in e.g. compact cord types .The polymer is carried into the voids by means of a water based micro-emulsion ,out of wich the water is driven out by heating , leaving behind the condensed polymer. A method to improve the ingress of the micro-emulsion into the voids is also described.
Abstract:
A tire cord having core filaments (10) performed into a helical configuration while maintaining the core filaments (10) in a parallel, side-by-side relationship. The core filaments (10) are not twisted or stranded together. High tensile strength sheath filaments (11) are also performed into a flattened helical configuration so that the sheath filaments (11) can be wrapped around the side-by-side core filaments such that the sheath filaments (11) do not put such tension on the core filaments (10) as to cause the core filaments (10) to bunch. The core filaments (10) are maintained in a flat side-by-side configuration so that no voids are formed and rubber can penetrate into the tire cord. The core filaments (10) may number from three to six and the sheath filaments (11) from one to seven. The cross-section of the tire cord is flattened and confined within an oval-shaped outer bound (21), the oval outer bound (21) being characterized by a major axis and a minor axis. It is desirable that the minor axis be no greater than 60% of the major axis to create the appropriate difference in the bending modulus of the tire cord in the horizontal versus the vertical direction.
