Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber reinforcing steel cord capable of minimizing the cord diameter and suppressing a dimensional change while ensuring sufficient adhesiveness between the cord and the rubber and to provide a pneumatic radial tire using the steel cord. SOLUTION: The steel cord 10 used in a belt layer 6 has a flat structure in which four side strands 12 having the same wire diameter as the core strand 11 are stranded and arranged on the outside of the one core wire 11 subjected to helical preforming and the circumscribed circle C11 of the core strand 11, and the circumscribed circle C12 of the side strands 12 form an elliptical shape, respectively. The twisting direction of the core strand 11 is the same as the strand direction of the side strands 12 and the preforming pitch of the core strand 11 is the same as the strand pitch of the side strands 12. The relationship between a minor axis ds of the circumscribed circle C11 of the core strand 11 and the wire diameter d satisfies ds>d. The minor axis Ds of the circumscribed circle C12 of the side strands 12 satisfies 2d

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber-steel cord composite that exhibits nonlinear physical properties even in rubber having characteristics of uncompression after vulcanization, consequently shows low rigidity and flexible properties in a low strain range, and also exhibits high rigidity in a high strain range. SOLUTION: The rubber-steel cord composite is obtained by embedding a steel cord, which is made by bundling a plurality of steel wire bodes spirally formed in a substantially same pitch approximately in the same phase without twisting, in rubber. Preferably an arbitrary one of the steel wire bodies and at least one of other steel wire bodies are piled on the spirally formed circumscribed circles. Preferably the structures and the formed amounts of the plurality of the steel wire bodies are entirely the same. The steel wire bodies may be steel filaments having approximately circular cross sections or a steel strand obtained by twisting a plurality of steel filaments. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make dimensional stability and rubber-permeation property compatible in high levels in a layer-laid structure. SOLUTION: This metal cord 10 having the layer-laid structure is provided by having a core 11 containing a modified cross sectional filament 20 having an almost elliptical cross section and having a short length ratio γ(=Ax/Bx) which is the ratio of the shorter diameter Ax to longer diameter Bx, changing alternately and repeatedly between its minimum ratio γm and maximum ratio γM in longitudinal direction. Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a steel cord having gaps between strands and good quality by affording a specified permanent set to feed wires, and passing the wires through devices for preventing backflow of twists then subjecting the wires to tentative twisting and second twisting. CONSTITUTION:Feed wires 9 are fed from reels 3, and are passed through permanent setting devices 14 to provide a specified permanent set to the wires. The wires are then passed through devices 15 for preventing backflow of twists so that the backflow of the twists of the wires 9 generated by the rotation of tentative twisting devices 11 from the let-off side is prevented. The wires are then conducted to a tentative twisting device 11, by which the wires are tentatively twisted and are then supplied in succession to a second twister 4. A permanent set is provided to a core wire 18 as well according to need. The twisting is stabilized by the above-mentioned method and the steel cord having improved resistance to fatigue and buckling and quality under low head is obtd.
