Abstract: A robotic device comprising: an energy storage device; and a controller configured to determine whether a quantity of energy stored in the energy storage device is below a predetermined energy level, wherein: the robotic device is configured to perform a cleaning task if the determined quantity of energy is not below the predetermined energy level; if the determined quantity of energy is below the predetermined energy level: the controller is configured to estimate a likelihood of the robotic device being capable of locating a recharging base station; and in dependence on the estimated likelihood, the robotic device is configured to seek the recharging base station or perform the cleaning task.

Abstract: This application provides a robot base station, robot system, pedestal module, and functional components of the base station. The robot base station includes: a pedestal for docking the robot and multiple functional components, each with at least one functional module, providing various services to the robot. Any of these functional components can be combined with the pedestal, and at least some of the functional components can be assembled together and then combined with the pedestal, forming a base station with various functional combinations and quantities. The robot base station is designed modularly. By combining various functional components with the pedestal according to the actual needs of users, a base station that meets diverse needs of different users can be obtained.

Abstract: Provided is a medium storing instructions that when executed by one or more processors of a robot effectuate operations including: obtaining, with a processor, first data indicative of a position of the robot in a workspace; actuating, with the processor, the robot to drive within the workspace to form a map including mapped perimeters that correspond with physical perimeters of the workspace while obtaining, with the processor, second data indicative of displacement of the robot as the robot drives within the workspace; and forming, with the processor, the map of the workspace based on at least some of the first data; wherein: the map of the workspace expands as new first data of the workspace are obtained with the processor; and the robot is paired with an application of a communication device.

Abstract: Methods and software for setting parameters for operating a modular robot are disclosed. One method includes receiving, by a server, communications data from a controller of the modular robot. The modular robot has storage for storing program instructions for executing autonomous movement at a location. The method includes sending, by the server, an initial outline for the controller to generate calibrated mapping data for the location. The calibrated mapping data identifies an outline at the location. The method includes sending, by the server, identification of at least two zones at the location, where the at least two zones define different areas at the location. The controller of the modular robot is configured to use the calibrated mapping data for said autonomous movement at the location and the controller is configured to operate a respective work function in each of the at least two zones.
