Abstract: Disclosed herein is a skin-bearing expansion-molded article of a thermoplastic resin, which is formed by holding a cylindrical multi-layer foamed parison comprising a foamed thermoplastic resin layer and thermoplastic polymer layers situated on both outer and inner sides of the foamed layer in a mold to compression-mold it, wherein the molded article has a skin formed of the outer-side polymer layer of the multi-layer foamed parison on the surface thereof, and on the inner side of the skin, a core formed by fusion-bonding at least a part of the inner-side polymer layer of the multi-layer foamed parison to each other and a foam formed of the foamed layer of the multi-layer foamed parison.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a speaker unit comprising a diaphragm comprising a 0.5 to 10 mm thick aromatic polycarbonate with a density of 0.03 to 0.6 g/cm , and a mechanism for driving the diaphragm. The elastic modulus in tension of the aromatic polycarbonate resin foam sheet or plate used to form the diaphragm for the speaker unit of the present invention is preferably at least 1 MPa at temperatures of 25 DEG C, 50 DEG C, 80 DEG C, and 105 DEG C, the tan delta of the foam sheet or plate is preferably at least 0.02 at a temperature ranging from 25 to 105 DEG C during measurement of the dynamic viscoelasticity in bending tests giving 1 Hz frequency oscillation strain, and the mean cell diameter of the foam sheet or plate is preferably 0.05 to 1 mm, with a foaming agent left over content of no more than 0.3 mol/kg in the foam forming said diaphram. The aromatic polycarbonate resin forming the diaphragm in the present invention preferably comprises an aromatic polycarbonate resin derived from bisphenol, preferably with a viscosity average molecular weight of 25,000 to 70,000. The percentage of open cells in the aromatic polycarbonate resin foam forming the diaphragm in the present invention is preferably no more than 50%. The diaphragm of the speaker unit in the present invention may comprise a film or sheet of an unfoamed thermoplastic resin laminated to at least one side of a 0.5 to 10 mm thick aromatic polycarbonate resin foam with a density of 0.03 to 0.6 g/cm . The present invention also relates to a speaker system comprising such a speaker unit attached to a cabinet. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a speaker diaphragm, comprising the steps of forming a 0.5 to 10 mm thick aromatic polycarbonate resin foam sheet or plate with a density of 0.03 to 0.6 g/cm .

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of producing foamed particles of a polyolefin resin, which are prevented from fusion-bonding among the particles upon their production, and exhibit excellent moldability without impeding fusion bonding property among the foamed particles upon their molding. The method includes dispersing the particles of the polyolefin resin along with a finely particulate silicate mineral as a dispersing agent and at least carbon dioxide as a foaming agent in a dispersion medium in a closed vessel, heating the dispersion to impregnate the resin particles with the foaming agent, and then releasing the resin particles and dispersion medium into an atmosphere of a pressure lower than the internal pressure of the vessel, thereby expanding the resin particles.
