Abstract:
PURPOSE: An optical information recorder is provided to improve playback performance and reliability of data by making a track pitch of a disc information area larger than the track pitch of a user data area. CONSTITUTION: The optical information recorder comprises the user data area(15), a lead-in area(10) inside the user data area, and a lead-out area outside the user data area. The track pitch of all or a part area of the lead-in area is formed differently from the track pitch of other areas. The lead-in area is equipped with the areas, such as the area(10a) writing the recorder related information, and the area(10b) writing the copy protection information and the important data to play the recorder. The recorder related information is the information for a kind of the recorder such as a rewritable disc, a write-once disc, and a read-only disc, and the information for a recording layer, a recording speed, and a disc capacity.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An information storing medium and a method for information recording/playing thereof are provided to record or play the medium in a conventional version drive by recording updated disc-relating information and recording-relating information together with those for the conventional version. CONSTITUTION: An information storing medium includes previous disc-relating information and recording-relating information recorded together with updated information in the same area in the same format but with different byte number of data. As a version number or recording speed is changed, updated disc-relating information and recording-relating information thereof are stored together with corresponding previous information.

PURPOSE: A method and a device for detecting a radial tilt are provided to detect a radial tilt with high precision on the basis of inner and outer phase comparing signals obtained when traversing tracks. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting a radial tilt includes a tilt detecting part for detecting a radial tilt on the basis of inner and outer phase comparing signals(Di,Do) obtained by a phase comparing part. When a pickup follows tracks, the inner and outer phase comparing signals have level values to be almost 0. If the pickup part traverse the tracks, the outer and inner phase comparing signals exhibit sine and cosine curves respectively and become opposite to each other. The level value of the outer phase comparing signal becomes 0 when passing 1/2 track pitch, while the level value of the inner phase comparing signal is not 0 and becomes Rs. A radial tilt value is obtained by multiplying the Rs by a proportional factor. The Rs is proportional to the radial tilt but not to any other conditions such as detrack, defocus, disc thickness, and tangential tilt almost.

An optical recording medium, on which a wobble signal having header information is recorded, an apparatus and method of recording the wobble signal, and an apparatus and method of reproducing the wobble signal are provided. The optical recording medium has a wobbled track on which user data is recorded. The wobble signal is recorded on the wobbled track. The wobble signal is a single-frequency signal having at least edge-modulated first header information. Accordingly, a clock signal as well as header information can be extracted more stably from the wobble signal.

PURPOSE: An optical recording medium storing power information on a clear pattern is provided to record initial and final pulse of a clear pattern to an exclusive rewritable area of an optical recording medium, thereby reducing the time required for selecting clear power for the optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: An optical recording medium storing power information on a clear pattern includes a bust cutting area(BCA), a pre-recorded area, and a rewritable area. The clear pattern information on the power levels of initial and final pulses of a clear pattern for data clear is recorded to the pre-recorded area or the rewritable area. The clear pattern is differently set according to the kind of a disc recording film, or the kind of the disc, wherein the clear pattern is differently set per layer in the case of a multi-layered recording film.

An optical disc in which a physical address of each smallest recording unit and a recorded address increase or decrease on first and second recording layers, and a method of identifying the recording layers. Embodiments are provided for discs having first and second recording layers with a same or an opposite track spiral direction. Physical addresses of the smallest recording units and a recorded address are increased or decreased between an inner radius and an outer radius of a recording layer in a manner which enables a reproducing and/or a recording device to more rapidly reproduce and/or record data on the disc. A physical address of the smallest recording units on the first recording layer is made different from a physical address of the smallest recording units on the second recording layer.

PURPOSE: A high density optical disk is provided to satisfy optical characteristic standards requested according to high density of recording capacity, thereby obtaining excellent signal characteristics in regenerating data after recording the data. CONSTITUTION: A high density optical disk is made up of a multi-layer film having at least one recording layer and an optical transmitting layer(6) accumulated in order on a substrate(1). The multi-layer film is formed by sequentially accumulating a reflective layer(2), a lower dielectric layer(3), a recording layer(4), and an upper dielectric layer(5). Grooves(8) and lands(9) are formed on the substrate. The recording layer is in thickness of 10-20nm.

PURPOSE: An apparatus for transmitting and receiving video signals is provided to transmit and receive video and voice without using a wire line, thereby easily installing display equipment and maintaining excellent reproduction quality. CONSTITUTION: A PCI bridge(118) receives HD(High Definition) TS(Transmit Stream) from a channel decoder(104) and SD(Standard Definition) TS from an MPEG-2 encoder. The PCI bridge converts the HD TS and SD TS into PCI(Peripheral Communication Interface) bus formats. A transmitter(128) transmits the converted HD TS or SD TS in wireless signals. A transceiver PCI interface unit(126) interfaces the PCI bridge with the transmitter.

CONSTITUTION: A disk cartridge unified with a clamper includes a disk(10,20), a cartridge case(21), and a clamper(22). The cartridge case is that the disk is received, a spindle hole and an exposing part are provided. The spindle hole is to receive a turntable of a spindle motor(25). The exposing part is to illuminate a laser beam of an optical pick-up on the disk. The clamper is formed in the center of the disk as one body and clamped to the turntable. A shaft is installed to prevent the revolution center of the disk from being broken away in the center of the disk. The clamper is fixed so as able to attach or detach to the center of the disk.

PURPOSE: A data recording method for an optical recording medium and a device thereof are provided to form marks or spaces by recording waveform having a delete pattern including multi-pulse, thereby restraining the distortion of the mark shape and improve the mark shape. CONSTITUTION: A data recording device for an optical recording medium includes a pickup part(1), a recording waveform generating circuit(2) and a channel modulator(3). The channel modulator modulates input data into a channel bit row to output NRZI(Non Return to Zero Inverted) data. The recording waveform generating circuit generates a recording waveform for recording the NRZI data to be transmitted to a laser driving circuit(14) of the pickup part. The laser driving circuit controls laser by the received recording waveform to form marks or spaces on an optical disc.
